I know its not he vintage section but heres where i hang, hope everyones keeping busy doing summer. Picked up another old sled awhile ago and stripped it, it was in good shape and after a little airbox/carb/fuel line work, it fired right up. Prob with these is the damn gelcoat, took a few nights to get them all but this morning I finally got paint on it (bellypan not shown). I put the graphics on with a few spots of masking tape for effect, it has spotless cylinders with 140 psi on both sides and the seat is in great orig. condition. Now that the PITA stuff is done, I can start putting it back together and will put up a picture or 2 as I go along. All i know is after this past Tuesday here (95 deg.), I cant wait to ride it, think snow...
BTW... its a 77 Eltigre 500 Free Air

what size?
Snochopper
500 Free Air, I'm doing all the bearings (jackshaft/drive axle) and replacing the Hex clutch with a comet 102, should be a pretty good runner, all I need is a good snowflap and its 100%.

Well finished up painting the rear suspension and all brackets and hardware. Waiting on 2 ski shocks and saddles (be here Mon.) , quick bead-blast on the motor tomorrow and its ready for assembly.

Motor cleaned, recoil/cdi sanded, repainted.....

sand blasted????

looking good btw grin.png

also lots of travel there in that skid grinning-smiley-023.gif

Just a quick bead blast, motor was stained pretty good and I thought it would look alot better if it matched the rest of the sled. As far as the suspension goes, I think its an early ETT 3, back when the thicker your seat foam was, the better your suspension. I also just found a pair of 78 heads and cylinders which are 6 port and im told good for another 10-12 horsepower, we'll see....

ceramic coating the pipe
Snochopper
I had to repair the manifold flange on the pipe and I usually do the strip and barbeque paint with a torch, I do all of them this way and it really lasts and looks close to factory. I need to get it together soon, its tying up my lift and I need to get the 1M apart (track swap and suspension changes) then the ZR for suspension changes (going with floats and I have a sno-pro setup for the rear, leaving the 1" for 10t driver clearance) and a friends ZR9 for a Boondocker setup and shock rebuild, it never ends, by the time I get done I'll be watching football (Giants training camp), cant wait.
Snochopper
Wont be long now, chaincase, carbs, exhaust and rear suspension and done, theres nothing to me like the satisfaction of restoring a vintage machine, especially when it gets down to trim.
arcticthunder
looks really good - excellent job!!

Thanks man, cant wait to ride it. Found a set of 78' 6 port cylinders and heads for $80, good for approx. 12 hp, should be a runner!
Snochopper
Well 2 months of spare time later and its finished, 1 pull start and ready to ride, turned out better than I thought......
