I,m thinking of buying a 2008 SuperDuty Diesel, anyone out there own one and if you do what are your thoughts on it so far? I hear they don't get great fuel mileage.

for a diesel i dont get how people with new ones say they get bad milage. all diesels start out with crap mileage but the more miles the better until you get to a certain amount of miles.
but then again when a person can afford a 60 grand truck then gas milage shouldnt be important.

Dont by a 6.4!!!!!!!!! definition of SHIT. I allready heard so many turbo spools breaking and going, well thru the whole engine system. Give them a few years and it will probly be alot better. Of coarse not as good as the 7.3 why they ever dropped that......

I am pretty sure they got this fixed, but the whole idea of the self cleaning oven technically known as an exhaust scrubber doesn't sit well with me whatsover. From what I know the exhaust scrubber or glorified catalytic needs to get up to 1000 degrees F to "burn off" the particulate in the chamber to keep it going and working right for emissions. 1000 8-9ft down stream of the turbo???? LAst I checked 1250 F or so is about a reasonable max at the turbo...and they want 1000 beyond the turbo? What does the temp at the turbo have to be to get the scrubber to 1000 F. That is what would keep me from the 2008's.

They seem to be getting mileage in the sub 10mpg area when towing heavy. The power seems to be endless, but the mileage is taking a beating. I'd look elsewhere, personally.

I personally loved the 06 type chassis but this new one, though it's almost the same, is ugly as hell. Stacked headlamps look retarded. I still love my Fords but if I were buying a new deisel I'd geta Duramax. Just my $0.02

I agree.
Although my 02 7.3 has treated me VERY well. I won't be getting rid of it anytime soon.

My 2 cents..... STAY AWAY from the new 6.4's for at least the first year until Ford gets all the hickups worked out of them. If they're anything like the 6.0L's the first 3 years they will be nothing but trouble.

i love the look of the new '08 superduty's. the new interior is awesome!
my '05 F260 with 6.0 has been a solid truck for 60 k now.
the 6.4 should be a great motor, but the second year of production ('09) will be a better motor to get for sure. you have to love the power and torque numbers the 6.4 puts out..impressive!

Well apparently the F250 and F350 trucks are pulling down high teens for mileage with good results. It's the F450s with steep gears that are sucking back the fuel. Sorry for the confusion.
With that said, I'd still be leary of the first model year. But take one for a ride and see how you like it. Hell, bring your trailer and see how it tows. Parkside has quite a few on the lot, they even have some 07s you can compare them to.

My brother has a 08. Went to cuntry fest pulling a 31 foot fifthwheel it did 12.3mpg at 100kph. I have an 05 duramax and a 28foot fifthwheeland mine did 12.5mpg. Runninng around empty the duramax seems a little easer on fuel. He only has 1500kms on the ford.
