So I was at my Mom's yesterday in Cobourg and here nieghbor came by with a counter pettition to support the local ice rink they put up every year in Victoria Park. They built new waterfront condo's and the owner's have a pettition to stop the kids ice rink because it's "Noisey" and they don't want to see kids there. This rink has been there for years and is in the park away from the condo's and let's face it in the middle of winter what noise can you hear with your window's shut. The fact of the matter is these "New" residents don't like to have the park filled with kids having fun and staying out of trouble playing hockey and skating. This is the same type of attitude that's hitting sled trails when people leave the city and put a stop to things that were they're long before they were. I'm a firm believer that when kids are tired after ice skating they go home, when kids are bored they get into trouble. I'm posting a link to the city's web page but also I think that email's should flood the mayor's office and tell them to keep the rink open,thanks.

If I didn't have to go back out on the deck and finish soaking up the sunset and pour a few more down my throat. I'd display my position on displaced city dwellers, trying to change the rural way of life ........................ they should all just move to the High Park area and hump trees.

You would think that playing hockey should be the last thing someone should complain about. Some people have nothing better to do than think of ways to screw everything up for everyone. In kingston there is a law saying you can't play road hockey aparently?? I heard them talking about it on the radio. what the hell are people thinking when they complain about someone having fun. I guess they have no life so they figure no one else should either!!!!

Cobourg has been anti-youth for years. They have stalled a proposed skateboard park for at least 9 years, because of their NIMBY attitude. But then they wonder why the brighter young people move away after high school, instead of establishing new business, there is nothing to keep them in the town.

Cobourg has become a magnet for retirees, and with it's business base drying up, it won't be long before the town dies as well.
