Ok I used to just use the memory card but that only gets me 15 second clips. And I bought new cable so I was hoping you could help get all the video into the computer.

Thanks!

Didn't your Sony camcorder come with any software? There should have been some sort of basic capturing/editing program included.

If not, Windows Movie Maker (free from Microsoft) can capture, edit and create movies from your camcorder.

I use Pinnacle Studio.

Whichever software you use you will need to read the Help files to learn how to use them.

Use a firewire cable(1394) to connect the video camera to the computer. You must use the base station supplied with the camera to do this.
Use windows movie maker to capture the video to your hard disk drive as rws suggested. Click start, all programs, windows movie maker.

Once all the video is captured into the computer, Windows move maker can be used to edit and process the video into the format you want.

Have fun!!

hey OLD CAT MAN.....what size memory card do you have?? 512?? 1Mb??? if its a 128 and you have the camera set on 3megapixels then its too high quality for that card....turn it down to 1meg and get a 512 card....this will allow 45 mins of video with no need for a firewire.....just stick card in puter and open MOVIE MAKER

I think a 512 but I will check when I get home from this long show in Chicago. But, the firewire it works very easy now. Come winter I'll be making some longer videos then my old ones.
