I have owned Polaris sleds for years and I just picked up a used 01 XC700 (non valved). It really doesn't seem to use as much oil as any of my past sleds. I haven't checked closely, but it doesn't seem to use much more than a quart to a couple hundred miles.

I only use about 1/2 qt to 10~12 gallons of gas! you sound like your about the same... My buddys 99 xc7 uses all most twice what mine does! I have a 2001 xc-8

I had a 98 700 xc. Mine used a quart of oil to 140 miles. The dealer told me you should use a quart to every 12 to 15 gallons of gas. Before I adjusted the oil pump I was getting about 90 to 100 miles per quart. I have my 2001 600 xc adfjusted so I get around 150 miles per quart.
Hope this helps.

SuperJet I got a used 2001 700 I picked up this yr as well. I agree I don't use much oil either. I have only done 100 miles or so but what a big difference from my 96 XLT Triple - that sucker sucked up the oil. How do you like that 700? I love mine.

I love it!
Thanks guys. I had a XC 700 before and it used about a quart to 100 miles, but it sounds like I'm OK where I'm at on this one. I will have to check a little closer to make sure. I just knew it wasn't using as much and it worried me a little.

My friend has an 02 700 x it doesn't seem to use any oil, kind of scary to how little oil it uses. My f7 is a pig on fuel, it used 3.5 gallons in the first 670 miles.

As long as the marks on the oil pump arm and the pump body are lined up when you take the slack out of the throttle, but before the carbs slides move, the pump is set correctly. Don't worry about how much it uses, depending on how you ride tha day, it will vary.

I went to my dealer and had the pump turned down slightly. It didn't bother me at first but now the engine is broke in and oil isn't cheap.
