One of my employees clipped this out and put it on my desk a while back. She thought it was going to be really funny. That was about the time it was 50 degrees in the end of Dec. and it was actually painful to look outside at the season slipping by. Thought you guys would get a kick out of it...

How painfully true. This was the first year that I know of where even Hurley's snow conditions in February were unpredictable at best. Before this year, Minacqua, Eagle River, Hayward, etc... could be snowless, and Hurley would still have great trails to hit.
I dont know what's to blame, and I wont point fingers, but our climate is changing, and it's not favorable for us sledders. Deny it all you want, but I remember (when growing up in Madison) when we would have a foot of snow by Thanksgiving, and the trails in MADISON would be open for months at a time. That sure as hell doesnt happen anymore. You're lucky to have Madison trails open for two weeks let alone four months. I might be wrong, but our state's climate is NOT what it used to be.
I remember times where going north of Wausau in January and February was supposedly BEGGING to get stuck in a snow bank unless you had some DAMN good snow tires, and now Wausau's trails are going to crap in the middle of our riding season.

Once we got through December, the Milwaukee area had more weekends of riding than in the last 10 years. People on this very site were talking about "trailering south for the weekend!" Haven't heard that since I was 10!
