My polaris is drinking anti freeze and i would like to know where is goin. There is no leaks so its getting burned up, in sleds people just change the o rings on the head is that what i gotta do?
FASTPRED
the 400 does not have o-ring head, either a bad head gasket and or leaking mechanical water pump seal, have a look at bottom of water pump housing and see if anything is coming out of weep hole...
BALLZOUT
Pull the crankcase dip stick and make sure it's not going in there. If it's not, Headgasket.
STORMWARNING
If its burning it you will be able to smell and see it!

No crankcase dipstick on a 2 stroke.

That's the counterbalancer dip stick... not for the crankcase.
BALLZOUT
Ok He who knows all beatingdeadhorse.gif When the fucking water pump seal leaks it fills that half of the engine with coolant, call it whatever you want.

No need to get pissy. Just stating what it is.

Seeing I own one and know my way around it pretty well.
polaris_paul
so just take the head off and take a look, cuz the water pump has no leaks
redxcr440
I would pull the head and check the gasket. Is it possibley leaking from the bleed screw on the head.

I own two of them and have rebuilt several of them also.
polaris_paul
Where is that bleed screw located?
redxcr440
Should be on top of the head by the 400 marks. Unless they changed that in later years.
