im thinking about buying a 05 mach Z dont know much about them, what were the updates everone does on the 05 to the current 07? thanks
super sled
There is a ton of differences from 05 to 07 fuel pumps, mapping, erave cables, crank bearing grease and the list goe's on there are a lot of good running 05 machs out there with no problems and there are some with problems. My 07 mach z has had a low pressure fuel pump go down at 170 miles and the top end speed is not where I believe it should be but I love the ride and the grunt.
rodder
The 05's are faster.LOL
super sled
I agree the 05 are faster,
06_mach_z
i dont know about that, i just cleaned an 05 with my stock 06 mach z adrenaline
super sled
OKAY let me say the 05,06 mach z ,f7,t-cats are faster then my 07 yes I know because I keep getting my ass handed to me by them.
doorider
I think the 05's were faster also.

I've beat two of my friends with my 07machz and they both have 05's. All of the sleds have 1-1/4" ripsaw tracks. Also mine topps out at 114mph GPS. I guess it just depends if you have a runner or not.

Me to.....I agree the 05's are faster with the 05's map. beer_cheers.gif

i like mach z,s.i have owned 2 800 triples. show me some speeds for the 800 and 1000
gowser
my 05 was faster than my 06x....less issues w the 05 as well.
snowflier
My 07 beat my buddies 05 mach no problem. Did you put the pins in your clutch?
Skidoo18
have both......05 is so much faster and quicker
super sled
My 07 with the dunn clutch kit and some good ice picks on it was faster then a 05,06 with crank shop pipes till about 70 mph then the 05,06 zs would have there way with me they both commented how quick my sled was out of the hole.I m going to chase the reason why 110-113 top speed for my sled is all it will go I have every clutch kit made for this sled hoping one would do the trick but they did not.So its time to get dissassembling clutches and look for binds or other reason why the cluthes wont shift out.all and all I love the sled for my personal reasons but dont know if I would talk any one else into one,

My 07 mach beat my 03 ZR900. Which my 03 ZR900 beat my buddies 05 mach. My mach topped out at 126mph with a Garmin 176 GPS.

I have an 05 with a 1" track and an 07 with a 1.25" track. The winner of the race depends on which sled hooks up out of the hole. The 05 is a little better on top, but it should be since it sits lower not being an X and it has a smaller lug track. Both of em are clutched very well. I've spent numerous hours with the radar gun to get these things to run like they do. They both smoke apexs, zr 900s, f7s, all STOCK MOTOR triples and basically any stock motor sled, hands down. If you are really wanting to make your mach run. Get a clutch puller $30, radar gun $130, electronic scales $100 (to make sure the tra arms are all equal in weight), spring compressor (you can make one with all thread rod, nuts and washers) $5, case of Old Style $11 and a lot of time and patience. Every motor is different from another, so testing is a must with clutching to get er dialed in.

I have an 05 with all the updates so it has the new low pressure fuel pump, e-rave cables, mapping, etc. An 05 with all the updates is very similar to the 06 and 07 except for the X shocks. I howver put Fox Floats on mine and the clicker C-36 on the rear right away so I've had a great suspension from the get-go. I also have the Pilot skis on mine which really lightened up the ski pressure from the Precision skis. An 05 that has been properly maintained by it's owner should have all the updates done to it. They were offered by Doo under warranty.

The new low pressure fuel pump still has issues. A lot of failures last year, mine included. I replaced mine myself with a pump from NAPA which is the exact same pump at less than half the price. You have to put the Doo electrical plug connector on the end of the wires on the NAPA pump since it comes with just two wires hanging out of it. Mine is fixed and ran great for the rest of last season but who knows how long it will last. I sent my pump back to the manufacturer and they took it apart and said the spring inside had broken and it appeared to be from corrosiion. My guess is the pump sits at the lowest point in the fuel system and any moisture in the gas collects there. If the sled sits all summer the moisture sits in the pump.

Gotta love those 1000s. I've had three which have been troublefree. smiley-faces7.gif

My 05 mach-z with 07 mapping set up for radar running ran 135.8 mph last winter in Constants Bay ONT, I've never seen another 05-06-07 run anywhere run near that speed on just motor.
I tried to run the same set up with 05 mapping and it would never pull it on the top end and would always fall flat at 110 mph.

Maybe in a drag race the 05 is faster but my thought on this is that because there is some much more hp throught out the mid range you are having a problem getting it to the ground.

I've dynoed all 3 maps and I like the 07 better then 05 and 06 if for nothing else but the change that was made to the ECU for dealing with being but into limp mode.

I've seen the 05 mapping after a really good run on the lake (127.2 mph) lay down and only run low 120's the rest of the day, after taking the sled back to the dyno and running it to see what power it was producing, we found a best run of only 150HP.
taking it back to the dealer for a remap and bang back to 170hp.

Best hp I've run on 07 low alt mapping is 175.8 hp.

These are just the facts as I have seen yours may differ.

Cliff. You need to find the 184 hp map that the race teams have. You won't believe how awesome it is!!!

Bill.

So your talking about a race map! not to the mid or high alt mapping.
I'l have a talk with my dealer to see waht he can scare up

Thanks for the input.

I have put the bikeman can on and dome's seem to work good 126mph also had the heaver pins that came with the sled put in that is a must,if you don't put in the heaver pins in yes the f7 will beat you.with my set up they cant touch me, also take the plastic gard off clutch cover it just hold's in the heat.keepping the clutch cooler can give you a little more power.

It is a map that only the doo race teams have access to. It is identical to the low alt map, just more power

My '05 is just a TOUCH faster than the '07.
Did I mention that the '05 is FOR SALE, CHEAP?? biggrin.gif

When my buddy got his 05 Mach it was fast until the dealer did the "upgraded" mapping. Would pull anywhere near as much weight and was much slower. Boondocker helped but it just never seemed the same. Told the dealer to put it back and he said it would void warranty. They did it but still not the same.

Cliff my 07 will run 110 on the gun everytime at a 168 miles My low pressure pump went out do you think that would have thrown a code to the ecu and that may be one of the reasons 110 is all she will go.I think I will call the dealer and have them hook it up to buds and see what they can find if there are any codes that came up. There is a race map out there for the mach z any one have it and could give us some info?
tmthunder
TTT anymore info on the race mapping for the Z's?
yumyum
My 07 is only getting 10 miles to the gallon 100 miles to a tank my 05 would get 150 miles to a tank is this normal
