I have an 1992 ext 550 special....I love this sled. Anyway I would like to upgrade the suspenion. I would like to get more travel and a softer ride. Where would I start to look for parts and accessories to do this? I could go out and buy a new sled but i like this one..lol Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Ben

put an ETT skid on it, anything 98 or newer should solve your problem. Ive done this to my 93 wildcat and t-cats. Theres a good write up by Scooter Mcgavin on here on exactly how to do it.

It is a TSL skid frame that you want, either from a ZR or a ZL, but each are slightly different from each other. It is a fantastic upgrade for the old sleds. I swapped a ZL skid frame into my 94 ZR eight or nine years ago and it is the best money I've spent on the sled. There are some instructions for the swap on later model sleds than yours over on Arctic Chat. That may be of some help.

Get the ETT skid from a ZR and it'll have fox racing shocks on it. You should be able to get the whole skid with the shocks for $400 no problem.

You can't go wrong with a paif of Fox Shox, but get them revalved for your weight and riding style, put a new set of springs on the back end, it will make a world of differance. If you do alot of ditch banging i would recommend rebuilding them every year if you want to keep the running top notch or you will notice a differance the next year, they will fade faster.

The EXT Specials came with Fox Shocks, so he should have them already, and should know they should be rebuilt every year.
