No one was injured after a train struck an abandoned snowmobile head_hurts.gif at Quicken Road crossing outside Philbrook in Todd County.

Zachary Zetah, 18, of Motley had left the snowmobile on the track after it became stuck, Todd County Sheriff Peter Mikkelson said. A BNSF Railway Co. train traveling northwest hit the snowmobile.

The snowmobile was a complete lost. Mikkelson said the train was able to resume its trip a short time later.

I've watched a sled get hit by a train and not a pretty site I may add, got wedged in a switch and we couldn't pull it loose so left it for the train to peel loose, it was an old 79' Exciter it sheared the motor in half, and left one cylinder in place and it still ran on one like a charm

With me being a Locomotive Engineer, that is one thing I haven't hit yet. The way they destroy cars and semi's; I can only imagine what it does to a snowmobile. ooh4.gif

I dunno I came across tracks with my 800 it has duel carbides and one of the carbides got hooked up and logged in pretty good, im a 5'10" 202 lb guy who can bench 325, and I squat and deadlift too. This being said it was a hard 5 minutes of work to free my sled. What if this 18 year old was driving a 1000? And he was small like 140-150 lbs it could be pretty hard to impossible if he got it wrenched in there pretty good, wonder if he was alone?

What if it was one of those Yammi 4-strokes? Hell, if a train hit one of those it would have derailed the train.

Well if you park your sled on the train tracks, you can expect it to be destroyed. What a dumbass.

My father-in-law was a conductor for th BNRR running freight trains and some of the stories he told about hitting stuff on the tracks were pretty amazing to say the least. Just a few that I remember were deer, a cow, a stalled car, an individual that killed themself buy laying down on the tracks, moose.
