Full Version: Stolen...two F7's stolen last Saturday night

They rode them off early Sunday morning. I kept waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of sleds coming and going and distinctly remember hearing a couple sleds just start and go....COLD. I thought...man, they should warm them up before riding. I guess they were the one's that got ripped. Cat has made it child's play to steal Firecats and that SUCKS! :wut60: Get a Cryptonite cable lock and lock your sleds to SOMETHING! I truely think my F7 could have been stolen if I didn't lock it up. Whewww!

Where was this? Give us a location. Good thing you had your sled locked up. My favorite type of security measure : uzi.gif uzi.gif Bastards!!

These sleds were stolen from the Best Western in Newberry. Also there was a Pennsylvania State Trooper that was on vacation with family and friends they just bought F7's. Went into Timber Charlies to eat, came out and he thought his friends were playing a prank. NO PRANK!! SLED WAS GONE!!!

Watch out for a very unhappy Pennsylvania State Trooper!

AC has to wake up and smell the real world on this one. i am VERY NERVOUS about leaving my sled anywhere...

veryangry.gif It's not just AC sleds that get taken . My buddy had one of his RX-1 s taken right out of his trailer in Canada over Christmas . That sucks :banghead: .I do know what your saying about how easy it is to start a AC with out a key and locking them up will help. I think it should be looked on as they stolen a horse and just hang them in a BIG tree along the trail.
Your right Ajak I got a nice Armalite for those guys uzi.gif uzi.gif .

Theives are opportunists.
Give them one and they will take it. Make life more difficult for them and they will think twice about it and might move on to an easier target. Locks, where and how you park your sled and trailer all factor in for the theives. The easier the target, the more likely it will get stolen. Just a fact and something to think about. m2c.gif

AC definately needs to step up to the plate - I remember when all cat keyes were the same - that was crazy

I don't ever worry about having my sleds stolen. I have insurance. that is what it is their for. In fact, I hope someone does steal my sled, my car, my truck, and everything else. I would love to get a big fat check and go shopping for all new stuff. Don't worry so much. If thieves want your sled, they will get it. Just keep full coverage insurance, and you can sleep without worrying.

Ohio just passed a bill to allow people to carry conceled handguns. Hopefully that helps. Theft is a large problem in canada and probably everywhere. The manufactures need to help. Good alarm systems might also help.

I agree with the guy about insurance but my sled was stolen out in Saint Michel Des Saints over new years but we followed the tracks to the guys house and got it bak but im STILL fighting with the insurance company and they wont even let me pay for the repairs and then reimburse me when they are done. Think about it for instance I have a new dodge ram put nothing down wheni bought it(0% interest, let my cash sit in the bank earning interest and borrow theres for free) so i owe about 40k and whats it really worth 30?? 28 even so now i have to come up with the difference if it gets stolen just to get a new truck, same with a sled, after you get done fighting with the ins. co. and pay deductables its just not worth it.....unless you make fake reciepts and out an extra 10k in "accesories" on it..lmao.

I have full coverage insurance, but when will you recieve the check?Answer: After the season. Which means no more riding until next year. On top of the fact that Insurance doesn't give you what you bought the stuff for, they give what it is now valued at being used. Which means financing more than last time.

Last time I checked you can't ride an insurance policy. Sure, carry full coverage but I for one wouldn't want my sled jacked on the first day of a 4 day trip. The money you would spend on a rental would be 10 x what a cryptonite lock costs. m2c.gif

Yeah, wonder if you would say this when they give you $4500 for a sled you paid $7800 for? Insurance is a screw job all the way around, you will very rarely re-coop your costs through the insurance company...

Unfortunately AC has made it really easy for one to steal the f-cats. Open the hood, pull one wire and wa-la, away you go.

I dont think its just AC...on my poo its the same thing i think. Just pull the wire connected to where you pu the key in.

You do realize you payed more for your truck to get an interest free loan, nothing free in this world and I bet you payed more than your money is earning in the bank.
Mainecat
Take the belt off and cable the sled. plus a nice warm belt on a -20 morning is nice.

We had a group try and steal my XC last year in Munising. They pulled the plug from the key, and viola, will fire right up (lesson learned) but they were on the trailer and the theives could not figure out the latch on the snoclamps. the funny thing was that my wife left the key in her 500f (thanks dear) and they never touched it. She was kinda offended..lol

They stole another XC that was parked right next to the back door with the owner in the room 10' away. I guess he did get it back later that day (kids joy riding)

I used to feel the same way. But you cant ride a insurance policy. Plus the bastards never give you honest money for your sled :banghead: We lock them in the trailer every night. :div20:

try putting switch underhood that will disable coil. With cats stuiped unplug the key and it runs the only way to keep from starting would put your hiden system on. But we all know if somone wants to take your sled they will find a way to do it. dunno.gif
Driftbuster
Sorry they sold your seld.

What year, What colors, any pictures and vehicle id numbers, more details about your sleds?

This info might help if we see them.

I hope you get them back.
hessian
why bother even unplugging the wires, there are only three different types of ac keys anyways which you can buy over the counter along with a tether. I change my ign. the first day I bought the sled, but it doesn't matter because a flat screwdriver and a mild hard twist will still turn the ign. to on.

This is one area where doo is way ahead with their tether chip security system, just don't loose that tether cause I think it's a $150 to replace it.

I don't think so tim, I have a 2002 zr cc and it was the same key as my old 580 and my brothers 2002 zr cc. IF they changed it's more recent than that, I couldn't ever really figure out why they would key them all the same in the first place. dunno.gif
the blur
polaris has 4 different keys.
zeppelin
i think cat has 3 diff keys...

to stop a theif you gotta think like one, i try to make as many obsticles to get around before they can actually off with the sled.
Sled in the garage with trailer against it locked with its wheels blocked so it can't move. and has motion detectors pointing at it so if it moves it lights up.

also two rottweiler dogs that go mental if they hear anything...

Also don't take the chances of having a toy garage without bars on the door and windows.... we have a cage door infront of the steel door and have still been broken into.

pretty soon they'll have to take a chainsaw and cut there way in through the side of the garage, then we'll have to reinforce the walls with rebar
