Just tossed a Honda knockoff 6.5 hp into kids 120 Polaris. I bought 26 and 28 tooth rear sprockets from farm supply. What ratio or combo do others have, mine has 10 tooth front sprocket.

Also has anyone installed a charging/lighting coil on theirs? Is there an aftermarket kit?

How many are using hand warmers?

you will have enough hp to run either of those gears i would start with the 28 though and a bit of forwarning, with that combination your going to be close to 20-25 mph depending on where you set the rpms up.

I will do some testing this weekend, going up north on march break next week and hope to have it dialed in. Right now it does 15-18 in good conditions and son is getting bored, his fifth year on it. Up north is a safe place to play with bigger speed.

How much modifying did you have to do to get that in there? Any pictures?

Go with the 26T, it won't be too fast for him. You're pretty much stuck without a lighting coil. It would cost probably $150-$200 to find a Honda kit. Since it didn't come with one, I'd suggest putting battery in the front of the sled to run the lights with a switch when needed for dim/dark light. You can then charge it overnight when it gets low. That would be the fastest and easiest thing to do by far. HTH.

Not as much as you would think. I am going away monday with family and need it complete for then. I will post pics and costs- pretty cheap and easy IMO. Should have something to show this weekend.

I may have a lead on an aftermarket coil kit, but won't be done for this season likely. I grabbed a battery and switch for at least this season. For sure fastest and easiest way.
