Spent the weekend at Cranberry Lake and I gotta tell ya, it was our best riding of the season by far. Hats off to the grooming. The lake had some slush areas but the trails and the scenery were awesome. Rode the lake and trails primarily North of Cranberry. This morning we awoke to about 8-10" of new fluff which was icing on the cake. Saw maybe 20 riders on the trails the entire weekend. My only suggestions are better marked trails (there's lots of them) and gas stations. If you go, PLAN FUEL CAREFULLY. I had to be running on fumes on one occasion, and I heard others saying the same thing. Some of the local businesses have closed due to the closure of a paper plant which killed much of their economy. One area seemed like a ghost town.

We did a 255 mile round trip Saturday from Gabriels (Paul Smith) through Meachum Lake, Deer Valley Trails and South Colton...on to the Windfall (Cranberry Lake), Wanakena and home. I've made the trip each of the last two weekends and the trail conditions have been great. Next weekend shooting for Stillwater and around ?

Glad you folks enjoyed the trails. we have a group that works hard to keep up. Sorry about the signage. I'm going to try and GPS all sign locations this year so that the signs will be put back in the same place next year.
Any body with any suggestion on where they would like to see a sign let me know. Thats one thing I did learn home the trail insector class.I ride the trails daily and know where I'm going and some times I forget that when signing.

Last year everybody, well most people, dropped the sleds behind teh community center on Rt. 3 just past the Cranberry Lake Lodge. I haven't ridden there this year, but I hear the main access trail out of that parking lot is closed, but there is a secondary trail that they made for this year. Or, the lake is right across the street from that lot...
