was wondering if anyone ever had a piston melt on the intake side of the piston. Funny thing was that the e.g.t's didn't raise over 1175.
any info would help before rebuilding as I don't want to rebuild without a cause thanks.

what did your spark plug look like?

Check the carb boots for cracks or rot.

Did you take the ring out ?
Or did the ringland break than the ring removed itself ?
It looks to me like detonation broke the ringland than found itself a hot corner to melt at.
I have something simalar on my wall of shame.
