It's been a few years since I've set one up have some questions. On an analog single gauge are only the 2 leads to the probe needed for the needle to read? Or do I need to hook up to 12v and ground? I hooked up the 2 leads to the probe and put a torch on the sensor and no go. It's an automotive egt gauge with some extra bs and the instructions are bad.

Yes, a Westach or Alcor gauge has 2 leads to the thermocouple. Don't hook up a 12V to the leads or you could fry the gauge!
You might have the wires switched. Check on-line for instructions.

Thanks for the reply. This egt is strange. It has 2 harnesses on the back. 1 that has 2 wires to go to the probes and 1 to the ignition and 1 for a ground. Then the other harness is for backlighting which can be programmed to be temperature dependant. So the backlighting can be white or blue from 0-1100 degrees then from 1100-1200 you could program it to be yellow than 1200+ you can make it red. Should be nice being able to check the temp by peripheral vision at night if I can get it to work.

APC's web site is terrible and without tech support so I'll have to email them I guess. The backlighting is different from companies like westach so I think 12v might be required to power it up. Not sure yet.
