I am trying to plan a saddlebag trip leaving Tues am from St. Ignace going to Munising Area and back, anyone coming thru that way please let me know if there is enough snow or if we should just plan on staying north of M-28. Thanks
Beagle1
Try this:

St. Ignace Trail Report

Depending on where you are leaving from. I would stay in the woods and not run the grade to Trout Lake. Instead stay in the woods to Trout Lake if you are going that route to Munising.

Otherwise, go west toward Cut River and then up #9 to Newberry and head to Munising.

Have a good trip ylsuper.gif

Yes, I would stay as far north of M-28 as possible. Any native saying the UP is ridable in St Ignace just wants your business. Aside from what little that area got on friday, that had virtually no snow when we drove through there on Wednesday morning. You'll see how bad it is when you get to the bridge.

I spent Wednesday thru Friday in the UP, staying in the Paradise. Anything south of Newberry/Trout Lake was 90% dirt, the 4-6" of snow they got on Friday will be wiped away quickly. We ended up turning around a couple times after watching the trails turn to almost nothing.

If you want a good trip, I'd drop in Paradise and ride to Marquette or something like that. We went from Paradise to Muinising & back on Thursday and it was a excellent ride both on & off trail.

Have a good trip!

Just returned from EUP ... had probably the best ride in a couple years Friday and Saturday. Took turns breaking trail most of the day - put about 40 of 400 miles actually on the trails. RR from St. Ignace to Trout Lake gets good a couple miles north of Moran. Cedarville connector not groomed as of Saturday night, but still flat and fast except for along Mackinac Trail. Trout Lake to Rudyard great - Sullivan Creek and Dick Road great. As in lot of other posts, all the off trail riding north of H-40, and certainly M-28 is unbelievble. Just too bad we got there first smiley-faces7.gif Sure put the Switchback and Crossfires to work this weekend!!!

Pictures tell the story a bit better .... Had to spend Thurs night in Mac City - bridge closed as we approached. Back on the road Fri 6AM - At least we made it all the way to cabin before getting stuck in driveway.

Great shots........ thanks for sharing. Bet ScubaSteve is happy !!! Finally got something to play in..
"Polarisrider" how long did it take to get the truck out??? She looks deep!

We left the truck stuck and went riding by 9AM. Our 'Landlord' and 'Cabin Boy' had the drive plowed and truck/trailer out by the time we came back at dark.

I seriously hope this was not directed toward the Club website that Beagle was nice enough to point out. Since you are relatively new here, I will simply point out that the majority of trail reports are posted on that site by me, personally. Yes I am a local, and neither of my 2 businesses directly benefit in any way from snowmobilers visiting our area. I am nothing but completely honest about conditions, just ask around.

we are under some kind of snow watch right now and its snowing.. I herd 6 more tonight and tomorrow. I havent been able to ride much. Road 20 miles into town the other day and the trail was best it has been all year.
in-kahoots
Temps are dropping , trails will tighten up alot , I predict this week to be the best of the year....................

I am here in the area right now and the trails are very rideable and in great shape. I agree the RR grade out on St Ignace is not rideable but you can trailer to Castle Rock rd and have a great ride. I would stay in the woods instead on taking the RR grade and if you do that you will have an excellent ride. I rode all the Straits area trails yesterday and broke fresh powder all day and had a great ride. The best they have been all year.

As far as Neil's reports they have been 100% acurate for as long as I have been reading them. I can assure you he's one of the good guys when it comes to reporting.
