Polaris95Classic
Hello, I'm new to this forum and to the world of snowmobiling. I just purchased a 1995 Classic 500, Runs great needs some carb tuning but other then that no problems. I was out riding today and i needed to utilize reverse I engaged the reverse and I hear an awful Grinding noise. Thinking that the reverse didnt pull on i attempted again, GRIND, etc. So I was wondering if any one could offer some suggestions?

sounds like the reverse cable is loose/stretched and does not allow full reverse engagement travel (grinding). Engagement lever should not move very far before reverse arm on chaincase starts to move.

you must be at a complete stop when shifting.

a high idle speed and/or a tight belt and/or improper chain tension can cause difficult shilfting.
