1996 Ski-Doo Formula 583 STX 5000miles

Got it 3 weeks ago, ran fineish, just wouldn't hit passed 7200rpm if you played with the throttle and wouldn't hit passed 6500rpm if floored. And that all changed.

Yup, it revs up to 4500 and thats it, if floored it dies. Smokes so much you can't see it. stalls if you dont rev it. Here's whats been done

6 pairs of plugs, half gapped to .018 half gapped to .030 all fouled.
Oil completely drained and changed with fully synthetic
Rave valves cleaned and set to factory spec.
Coil changed
Plug caps changed
plug wires changed
Airbox removed and cleaned.
All fuel lines checked.
Clutches checked.
Carbs in sync.
Fresh tank of gas.
Oil adjustment is perfect.
Compression 145 in both cylinders
Exhaust checked while running, belt side burns your hand other side is lukewarm. This may be caused by the plug already having been fouled when we checked, who knows.

One plug will always come out tan the other will come out covered in oil. Which cylinder it is varies. Doesn't have enough power to move itself, if you stand off of it and play with the throttle you can get it to move around at about 2mph. Which let me tell you was a lot of fun loading it back onto our ramp after we thought we had fixed it.

Here's the best part. Its continuously gotten worst. We're out of ideas.

Before we started fixing it it would top out at 6500-7200 with throttle play but idle on its own and run nice, just wasn't running like a 583 which was unacceptable to me. Now it won't idle on its own and tops out at 4500rpm. I'm honestly about one headache away from using it as a boat anchor.

With the drive belt removed and it up on a stand it runs fine, will rev to 8000 like it should no problem, sounds like it misses at idle though and runs extremely rich, also sounds like it may only be running on one cylinder at certain times. Guy before me said the carbs were just in to get done, so we haven't cleaned them yet as they should be fine. I also imagine they are set right but i have to question that, its running very rich.

I need help before i pretend it got stolen and leave it on some train tracks somewhere.

re adjust the carb or better take carb apart and see what you have

also check the fuel pump

sled should engage 3500 them max out 7800rpm for optimum performance

Have you pulled the mag off and taken a look at the stator and trigger coil? Check timing, check resistance values for the stator and the trigger coil....
