Looking at purchasing a 2002 Pro-X 440 now is this 440 sled fan or is it liquid (I haven't had a chance to look at the sled just over the phone). Also is there a kit that i can get to make it trail ready aka heads for pump gas and a good 11.6 tank maybe also was wondering if there was an oil injector add on so you don't have to mix the damn gas. Anyway the sled has a little ski ding in the tunnel not to major and has had 10 tanks of gas through it so it is pretty good shape he is asking $1900.00 for the sled good deal or not let me know I'm not to familiar with Pol(ahhem)cat

could be a fan or liquid, if its a liquid you buy the heads and a bigger tank set your timing to E and your set.

what about the price 1900 a good deal and do they make an oil pump add on for this thing

If its in real good shape cosmetically its a pretty good deal, but its gotta be a liquid to be worth it; I'm not sure you can put an oil pump on it but I would reccommend lookin for a 700 ves motor and drop it in. buck for buck one of the best ditch sleds out there after putting in a 700 or 800.

I'd just buy a Pro-X 600 or 700 personally. Unless you're looking for a good summer project.

Keep your eyes open for a pro x. IMO they are worth the non-hassle. Better to get a great trail sled that is reliable than a race sled that you have to keep monitering to get performance. Some may disagree but look for a 600, 700, or 800.

Well theres a problem with that, Money I only have a budget to spend of about 2000 and its hard to find a good sled in that price range so i figured i can purchase this sled put the pump gas heads on it, use it for the rest of the year and look for a 700 motor or get something better next year money shouldn't be an issue next year. That way i can have a fun toy to play on next year or let my wife and kids drive it or company when they come and i can get a different sled for myself.

Well, if it's a fan just gas it, jet it and go.... If it's a liquid, go search the 440/race/modified forum. Tons of info, part numbers and people who know this inside and out.

been there done that. if the 440 is a liquid be prepaired to spend alot of time setting the motor up for changing conditions. it only took me 2 rebuilds on my motor to yank it out and swap in the 800. fun sled to ride, very capable suspention set up.

I'll sell you my 02' pro x. It already has a stock 600 installed in it. Just needs a set of air filters on it or an airbox made to fit it.

You have only the BEST production sled that polaris ever made; Which by the way is what I was riding in 03 and am still currently on one. its a 02 with a 800 and the xr800 steering setup. Mine was a X snocross racer, twin pipes and the whole 9 but seriously a heavily modded 800 is not that hard to dial in, then change jets every 20 degree change. I havent got a ton of miles on mine but I havent nuked the motor yet...

Installing a bigblock in a 440 is so simple anyone one with a set of tools could do it. Move the mag side motor mounts over and find a complete setup from a wrecked sled or on ebay. 1 day of wrenchin and you'ld be good to go...

Well i did go and look at the sled cosmetically mint 1 little ding in the tunnel about the size of a quarter from a ski and no shield. And yes it is a 02 prox440 liquid i did haggle with him about the price and he did come down to 1600 but didn't meet my offer i was trying to stay under 1900 for sled, heads, jets, tank, and new clutch springs, and being from the Theif river, Roseau area was still pretty steep on items even going to the plant and looking my best bet would be to get the sled and find a 700 or so motor and good sites to look? Keep posting thanks for all the info guys.
