Hi All, I just got back from a short ride from Charlotte through Hinesburg and Huntington towards Waitsfield. The trails were great, but there were alot of branches down. After Huntington, it got really windy and there were some major drifts. There were no other tracks and it started getting pretty hairy. I decided to turn back before a tree landed on me or I got stuck. I ran into two guys on Yamahas that said they did the same thing when they got to that area. Can't wait for the wind to die down and for it to get groomed for some nice cruising.

Thanks for the report. I live in Shelburne and was gonna head to Hinesburg, I will wait until later tonite or Sat. It sure was nice yesterday !!!!! All freshly groomed (great job groomers!!!!) it was really nice before the storm it should be even better now with a little more coverage.

Hey Skidmark, let me know if you ever need a riding partner. I'm right off the trails in Charlotte before the trail crosses Carpenter Rd. My next door neighbor Norm does all of the grooming in the area. Solo riding can be a little sketchy, but better than not riding! I did a nice loop today . . . 7 south past Mt Philo, first tracks through Ferrisburg and down to New Haven where I picked up 17 and crossed through Bristol and back over to Hinesburg through Huntington. The trails were sweet except for one section just after Bristol. Seems like some of the farmers groom the trails with their tractors, which is cool. I thought I was going to run out of gas, but made to Ballards on fumes. Does anyone know how to get to the gas station in Huntington?

I did that same exact loop on Thursday...but started in Bristol. I agree the trail heading up from Starksboro to Huntington (past the town forest) needs a groomer thru there. I stopped to help some maple suger farmers get their truck unstuck from a ditch in that area. Once I hit the trail where you can go to either Waitsfield or Hinesburg....it was awesome the whole way. The view from Philo was spectacular that day. Hinesburg/ Charlotte area have been doing a great job with their grooming.

I rode with my daughter to Mt.Philo and Hinesburg today on 7N...it was good but got soft later in the day. There are alot of wide open, long stretches thru that area which are nice to cruise on.
