Looking for the torque value for the spider jam nut on my primary clutch. Also looking for any tips on breaking that freakin' thing loose. I already snapped a brand new 1/2" breaker bar trying. Can I heat it without damaging the clutch? I don't think it makes a difference, but it's off an '02 500XCSP. Thanx for any help.

I do use a torch to heat them up if they don't bust loose, let it heat soak and don't got it too hot. Used to be 210 ft-lb on Spider, and 235 ft-lb on the spider jam nut. I use blue loctite to re-assemble both. Broke lots of 1/2 inch bars, even a 3/4 one time, fun fun.

torque specs listed above are correct, use 3/4 inch bar and cheater pipe to get loose. do not use an impact, you'll break the nut of tool. also, i clean and install the parts without locktight. never had a problem yet. i have pulled several stiock units apart that wer e supposed to be locktighted from the factory. also re-shim you rspider to allow 0.015" belt to sheeve clearence.
