Guys don't shoot the messenger , I love my knew dragon !!!
Is anybody winning races with them , or would that just fall under the IQ ??
Anyhow I saw a picture of the 08 800 Skidoo , looks like a futuristic fusion , the seating position is just like our Dragons (people getting sick of driving on there knees ) heres the bad news , its supposable 416 pounds at a 160 hp holy crap !!!! I mean hopefully for the Polaris team it is so light that it falls apart after 500 miles otherwise Polaris is in trouble next year , Just info , I'm still blowing past skidoos on the trail and rooting for Polaris but they better have something better or as good to offer people because I don't think as good as my dragon is , it has made a big impression on the general snowmobile public for Polaris.

now it's 416 lbs and 160hp? It started out as 435lbs and 150hp. The 150hp part is already proven, but don't expect to see a chassis under 450 dry at the time of production. None the less, those are good numbers. I'd expect to see 150hp at minimum out of Polaris' new 8 hundo.

The 800 Dragon with 150+ HP would be great but if they don't put it in a 121 or 136, they won't be happy with the response!!!

I would like toknow how they dropped 50# out of a sled. Even if you used exotic metals, you just don't loose that much wt. I would assume it has no boggie wheels. I would of thought it used air shocks(no springs), but I see springs on it. So it must be thinner stampings, thinner/smaller hood/belly pan, lighter/smaller seat foam, ect. So will it hold up to abuse???

If you are trying to get a rise out of the Polaris forum you are barking up the wrong tree. If you like Polaris soooo much (you have several posts in here) why don't you step up, be a man, and BUY ONE!!!!
I know, I know, you probably aren't used to that much power riding a doo but if you practice you might just be able to handle it!!

Personal opinion:
I think the REV XP project was started in 2003 after the REV came out.
At that time the light weight of the 2003 Firecat was all the rage. But, we all saw the changes from the original prototypes to the mass builds and then the 2004-2005s also gained some more weight. Ultimately lightweight at the expense of ANY reliablity is simply not worth it.
I think the project was conceived at that time. Ski-doos marketing has continued to focus on the weight issue.
However, fast forward 4 years and "Weight" is no longer the big issue it was in 2003. I think people have finally realized 30-40 lbs either way does not necessarily make a sled better.
Bottomline - I will NOT pay a premium $$ for weight savings. It is simply not that important to me.

Some of you guys are whistlin' past the graveyard if you think this won't hurt Poo bad. It's like the dark days for Yammie when all they could talk about was the handwarmers. Sure, the new Doo's will fold in half, uh huh, you betcha. Don't bet the ranch on it. If Poo continues to slide, they could throw in the towel in a year or two. Sleds are only 10% of their business now.
I've owned a ton of Poos and one Rev, for those keeping track. Currently I own 3 Poos. The Rev was the best sled I've owned, though. I'm not brand loyal. It's fine to be loyal to Poo, but don't kid yourself about Doo. They are number one and climbing. Cat was there in the 70s, Yammie in the 80's, Poo in the 90's, Doo now. Let's just hope they all stick around in this declining and expensive market.

People need to understand that when one manufacturer jumps ahead, the others will follow. There will always be a little of you steal this, we steal that, you buy this, we'll buy that, amongst the manufacturers. Doo you remember where POO got push button reverse or where Doo got the design for the SC rear suspension? Embrace the change, it'll only lead to better things.
BTW, the 03 REV came in at 434 lbs and the 07 REV came in at 479 lbs. The 08 is expected at 417 lbs. All "dry" weight.
Everyone needs to relax, Poo sleds will not be going away anytime soon. Just getting better.
PS. I'm planning on getting an 08 REV-XP 800r.

Ski doo has been losing 20 pounds per year their sleds since the MXZ600 release in "97. At least that's what their ad campaigns have been saying. $13K for the new ski doo 800? We'll see.

I was at the last oval race of the year at Beausejour, Mb. I saw the new Ski-Doo Rev, I made a comment amongst all of the Ski-Doo fans around me that the hood makes it look like a Fusion. Needless to say that I think that I pissed off quite a few Doo fans. Mission accomplished. Yeah. lol. It is a pretty different looking sled alright, right down to it's swiss cheese running boards to it's very functional windshield. lol.

I have started to see lots of pics of people riding those ugly cheese graters...they look like tiny sleds... no wonder they dropped so much weight. They shrunk the damn things.
