Looking at the online parts catalog I notice that the 2004 Pro-XR 800 rear motor mounts are different. Is this because they have to be since it's the 2003 440 chassis? They look like they would be more durable than the Pro-X 800's with the 4 round motor mounts. Pro-XR mounts look like they would have less chance of breaking because of the angled design. What do you guys think? To the guys that have 2004 XR800's, do you have problems with mounts as well?? I know the torque arm and mag side push arm will fix it, just thinking out loud. I know the front mounts are the ones that break, but what if the rear mounts flexing is the reason that the front mounts are breaking?

Shortstop, are you referring to what I said when I hijacked your thread earlier?

the xr800 mounts doesnt seem to hold up any better then any other Pro X mounts without a torquearm/pusharm support... both my cousins front mounts has been shot several times until the torquearm had been installed, myself i installed a torquerm right away and never had any issues since day 1...

on my 04 proxr 800, i had to install new front motor mount's and the end of last winter. i got back from wy about a month ago and noticed that my rear torque stop was trashed and my heim's joint on my slp torque arm was broke. got to looking and my front lh motor mount is broke again after 6000 mile's. they were the stock mount's and i have the push arm and torque arm and have my torque stop up tight. i know most of my riding on this machine has been in the moutain's in deep snow, but somebody needs to tell me why they keep breaking.

The only motor mount I have broke on my 04 pro xr was when the sled was completely stock. I installed the torque arm right after and havent had another one break.

Anyone know why it is a different design?

the front and rear mounts are the same. dont know why in the parts book the back ones look different. just put in 90 durometer mounts and wont really have any trouble. along with torque arm

90 duro mounts are junk from my experience, I broke two of them just tightening them down to the bulkhead. Rubber separated from the metal like nothing!

I put in 90 duros after tearing a mount after buying it used. Just wondering why the diagrams use a rectangular mount instead of a circular. Thats all.

To allow for a more foward steering/rider position? Just guessing b4 I look at the parts listing.

Rectangular ones cost more. Three times as much.......... Why?

I have broke alot of the round ones, they all tear away from the metal, I think its just a crapy design. I have not used the square mounts but I have seen them in the diagrams. I just got done fixing my slp torque arm that broke.

Your torque arm set up is just like mine! That is the only downfall is that the arm is too short and its less effective, at least thats what Todd was telling me. I dont believe there are any better mounts out there. I just use stock mounts, with a torque arm(soon to be the older XC style that is longer and more effective) and a push arm. It solved my problems with that. Seems like those Duro 90 mounts are crappier than the stock ones.

I like N2oiroc's torque arm, don't have alot of miles on it(3-400) but it seems to be solidly built and my motor mounts were holding up fine until my wreck. It also looks like his torque arm has a longer arm than the SLP unit, just going by cheezusXR8's picture.

The longer torque arm I am talking about looks just like pictures i've seen of N2oiroc's setup of the ones he was sellin. Thats the kind of set up you need to make everything last. The SLP ones are absoulte junk. Mine didnt last more than 100 miles untill I put a hardened heim joint on, just to get me by so I could make a snowmobling trip. At the end of the season I am going with that style.

I'm going to keep running the one I have until have more issues, then I might think of changing it. The mounts need to have holes in the metal washers then they could have the rubber go through the holes and have some rubber on top of the washers to sandwich it in there. Because the rubber has never ripped on me it just pulls off the metal. I'm content with my torque arm right now, I'm going to start messing with my clutching and gearing to fix my 150 mile belt life. I'm starting to include the price of a belt in my budget every time I go riding. Gas, Lodging, Food, Belt
