{Looks like he was driving a Polaris}
Thinksno
It's instinct to hit the brake. I was in a similar situation near Dorset at 1:00am following local guy. I pinned it and now I never ride lakes I don't know at night, actually I guess I ride daytime 99% now.

A well sealed sled could burn a whole tank on open water...but get water on that clutch and ur toasted...
80mph the skis probly never touched the water so it didn't come flying on the clutch.

The Polaris are great on open water...

You will cross an entire lake without any trace of water on you... I can tell you wink.gif

On this one, I had never hold the trottle at WOT more than 5 seconds and I easily ran at 80mph and +... I've done more than 1 miles on open water... And I've done it 3 times...

That looks like a blast !! Nothing like putting some miles/kms on in the summer. I want to try it sometime, but not across a big lake like you did.

But didn't the people in that nice quiet vacation area give you some sh!%

At least you're not crossing open water at night, in the cold, with ice like these other guys had to.

People in that quiet vacation area like you said, are the people who organised this event... There was a big party, many many games, boat, and the main event, snowmmobile on the lake... And more, the party was organised for an association for people reached of cancer being in final phase, the party made it possible to pile up 10 000$ and to give it to this association... It's like an anual festival, everybody enjoy it... Year after year... On the movie, it was the second year I crossed this lake. And some friend have done it too. It's a great feeling... You must try this at least one time in your life...

And the winter, this lake is a great lake for racer... People around the lake even come on the lake to give the start... This area is like a little town in the middle of no where, only at 15 minutes of my city...

That makes it even better !!

Anytime you can have a great event, have fun, and raise money for a cause, makes for a outstanding day.

Maybe someday, I can have an open water cross. {Just hope it's on my terms, and not because I didn't see it coming}
