Just wondering if any one may have the answer to this question that I may already know. I sold a 1993 T cat in show room condition to a guy down the lake. Well it turns out all he wanted off it was the CDI and the sator. I can get the sled back with a 2001 CDI and sator but I would sooner get it back with the original equipment . My question is would the sled run the same speeds with a 2001 CDI and sator or should I try and get it back with the original equipment? I sold it for $3000 Can and can get it back for $2500 with the 2001 ignition and $3000 with the 1993. What do you guys think?

Have you seen it run with the 01 system? You would have issues going that route. A 01 has a TPS on it, and uses a different stator/flywheel/magneto/ and flyhouseing housing. I think you have to chnage all those pieces, to convert a new one to an old style, but I don;t think it would work good the other way, because of that TPS. Plus your key woud be backwards, that bugs me. CPC makes a blockoff for the TPS.
You would be better off finding a 94-98 CDI box and stator on EBay, but that would cost 100-250.
Either way, no setup would be as good as the 1993 ignition. Everybody likes that box. In fact I just bought a 93 CDI for my 96. I paid 100 to give you an idea, and I think I overpayed a little.

Thanks fastcar01. I didn,t think there were any 93 CDI boxes around. How did you locate one?

I put a 93 box on my 97 ZRT 900. I could never see any difference at ALL....
