Ive heard all the trails are good up there. Take trail 37 to Boon and drink a few by the fire. After that you can head up to the Yuma Bar. Trail #6 runs east and west and is kinda like the highway up there. We went on a loop headed south from Lost Pines a few weeks ago and it was great. Just be sure to have a map, trails were missed marked and gas stations were no longer where the map said.

Just came back from up there. Rode Manton,Fife Lake,Kalkaska,Traverse City, & Towards Wellston.
Misted and Rained all Day Tuesday. 38Degrees at 3pm.
By 2:30 Today there was less than 1-2" of Total Snow/Base left on all the Trails and they were Very WET,Sloppy,Mushy and Muddy in the Corners Between Fife Lake,Kalkaska,Manton and Cadillac.
Some of the 2 Tracks were Untouched{until today,he he.} Snow on them was anywhere between 6-10" Deep, But Wet & Heavy!!
Hopefully they Get a Good Freeze the Next 2 Nights and at Least 2-4" of New Snow on top of that, Otherwise Other than the 2 Tracks, It's all Over.
God bless. ZR

Now c'mon,,, you mean to tell me that the 10-12" of wet, heavy snow they got on Monday is down to 1-2" already??!! It has NOT been that warm to ruin all that. And in the middle of the week?,, with no traffic? What trails exactly were you riding on,, gravel roads?? Just got back from a Meredith to HL ride, and we got less snow than Cadillac, and the trails were fantastic. snap

it's raining like a sun of a bitch here in grand rapids this morning, lots of lightning Weird...... to seee that this time of the year.
I hope it is colder further north, because they are calling for temps near 40+ today.
As for cadillac getting 12 inches I know that's not true, maybe 6 inches but still temps around 38 yesterday. Didn't look like the snow was going north this morning on the radar, it looked more west to east and was filled with freezing rain.
I'm still waiting to make a decision for saturday. If we go I'm sure my group would provide a guide service for you out of state folks who want to ride fast and crazy.
Send me a pm if anyone HCS want to meet and ride. Watching the weather later today of course before we make any big plans.

We Rode all the Marked Trails from 131 TrailHead, X River to Kalkaska,Ranch Rudolph,Fife Lake, and to Traverse City.
There is alot of Snow left in the Woods, But the Groomers were keeping the Trails Nice. Then it was Lightly Raining with temps at 38 Degrees Tuesday Afternoon. The Snow just started turning to Mush..
Yesterday there was Dirt in Most of the Corners, and alot of Water Holes Forming. The rest of the Trails from Kalkaska, Fife Lake and Back to Manton were getting Very Sloppy. Monday and Tuesday we only Seen a Total of 6 Other Sleds.
Wensday Before 1 Pm we had Seen at Least 20.
If you know the Back Trails, and Orv Heads, You will still have a Good Ride, But if it don't get colder, It'll be awful Wet and Sticky. We were Riding 2 Revs and 2 Cats and had to Shut em Down a Few Times Tuesday and Wensday because of getting too Hot.

Thanks for the reports guys! Keep'em coming. I'm hoping to make a decision by Friday after work. If Caddy is bad, is Traverse or Houghton Lake any better? I've never gone to the LP, I usually go to western UP. It looks like if you stay in Caddy, you go west and north. Any suggestions are welcome. Am I gonna have a hard time finding a place to stay in Caddy if I wing it and just drive up there?

The 2 tracks and forest roads become the only option after the trails get beat on the weekend. Usually when the snow gets deep later in the year this can be the best!

By the way, what do you guys mean by "2 Tracks"?
They are the roads that, in summer, look like two tire tracks going thru the woods. They are access roads, fire roads, etc, but NOT actual named or maintained roads. When the snow flies, roads get plowed, trails get groomed... and two tracks are untouched... except by us sledders!!
Here's a two track pic for you...

Hit up the Pines, just West of the 55/115 intersection....you'll find a local to take good care of ya for the night
You'll want to head West of Cadillac towards Caberfae...that's where most of the snow gets dumped. Our group mostly rides back country, so the trails don't mean sh.t to me.
Anyway, we've got about an 1 inch of fresh stuff on all the roads this morning. It's still comin down. Should be an excellent weekend!!!

Put 120 miles on today in the Cadillac area.
-Cadillac to Mesick to Wellston to Irons back to Caddy.
Plenty of snow. The wide trails in the Caberfae area were awesome. The trails that wind through the woods were a little choppy.
Overall I'd rate the trails a 7.5.

A lot of REVs tend to do that if not set up properly. The 1st year they came out I almost got hit about 10 times in a weekend. More people have them dialed in now. The others that cross over on the trail can BITE ME!
TP, we need to talk about another place you can ride if you'd like. You are welcome to stay at our place next season, that is east of the Benzie trail system. You could also ride the Traverse system. You can still get down to Caberfae areas, but you could also ride north to Empire or Maple City on some stuff you probably have never seen before.
We'll talk about it this summer. Everything you need is there except food. It is a regular fully equipped house, not a trailer or cabin.
