96 XLT Special

XLT won't idle. Took all three carbs apart and made sure all jets and needles were clear and working. replaced all three seats last year. My problem is that it won't hold an idle with out flipping the choke up quickly now and then. The motor has about 4500 miles on it after a rebuild and 7800 total. I'm thinking it might be the needle jet and jet needle need to be replaced along with the pilot jet. The motor acts like its not gwtting enough fuel untill I flip the choke. The air screw is set at 1 turn out, I've tried it at 1.5 turns out with no differents.

i did put a new chike cable on it and the chokes were ajusted. Any thoughts on what to do next would be great. THANKS

Put a rebuild kit in the fuel pump. They are not much $.

you turned the air screw the wrong way .you let more air in ,not more fuel .try it at 7/8 to 3/4 turns out, this will richen your mixture.
