I ride a Vector Mountain, comming off a Viper there was a learning curve but I am getting it figured out. The Vector benifits from a 151" track and real good front skis. It's power is strong with a lot of torque. In deep snow it handles very simulare to a 2000 or newer Mountain Max with better power. It responds very well to rider input and will hold it's own with any sled in it's class.

Fuel milage is about 16 unless you push some heavy snow and then it is the same as the rest, about 10.

I tryed Simmons skis on it and they didn't handle well so I went back to the stock. I replaced the track, 3rd window closed, with a fully clipped and Extrovert drivers. I can run a looser track and have all but eleminated hyfax wear, which was an issue with stock.

1500 miles now and the engine hasn't burnt an ounce of oil, the cluches are spot on for our area. The three cylander engine is rock solid and starts in all conditions.

Hope this helps.

Our group rented two in the Snowys this season. I felt they were under powered and over weight. Not a dig against Yamaha, just my opinion about this sled as a mountain machine. Having only had two strokes, I struggled with the engine braking but I would probably adjust to that over time. I hear Yamaha has reduced the engine braking on the '08's.

they reduced it only on the new nitro.
The stock clutch vector mtn do feel a little under powered but with a few little things they wake right up.

we rented one and took it to revelstoke, it was great on the trail, stable at speed and cornered well, but once we got it into higher elevation everybody wanted to try it, but all who did, did not want to climb with it after trying it. it would power out and you would have to turn out, or if you got it stuck you always needed help. this motor seem to loose alot of steem with the elevation. posibly the gearing was just too high?
