I ride a '04 XC700 and HAD the same problem. I corrected the spinning by cutting the sliding blocks that the bottom of the rear shock bolts to. The stock gap on mine is 1/4 inch. I cut the blocks so there is 1 and 1/4 inch gap at ride height. This is a little too much so I ordered a new set of slider blocks ( Polaris $22.00) and will cut them so the gap is 3/4 to 1 inch total.

After cutting and reinstalling the blocks I had to stiffen the rear shock 1/2 to 1 full line mark. I am as quick off the line as all I ride with, And I notice very little if any "slap" from the rear suspension with these settings.

Look at the pics to see what I am talking about.

yeah thats a bit much to trim off. You'll probably jerk the skis right up trimmed that much, not really what you want to do (but it sure looks cool!). Try trimming them only about 1/4 to 3/8 (max) of an inch shorter than stock.......perfect! You are right this will let you hook up much better. Be sure they are the same size on each side.

VTsledhead, What is wrong with the mileage of your sled?

VTsledhead, What is wrong with the mileage of your sled?

My milage is between 9 to 10.5 with a temp a flow, even my wifes 500 fugi only gets between 10.5 to 12, not verry good in my book.
thats why I bought the sdi rev, that I cant stand to ride, at least its getting 15.8 to16.4 so far.

I just got back from a weekend trip where we put on about 200 miles and I have the same sled as you (05 XCSP 700). The changes I have made to mine thus far is 64g weights in the primary clutch, 24/42 gears from the 25/41, 420main jets, and added the tempaflo. This was the first trip with this set up. The first day was about -4f degrees out and I averaged 10mpg over 40miles. Friday the temp was up to about 32f and we put on 91 miles. I averaged 12.5 mpg and the last day was up to about 40 degrees and I was up to 13.5 mpg. My sled also just rolled 1000 miles and have been told this might make a difference. Don't know for sure myself, but something definetly changed for the better.

I weigh in at 195 with all my gear on.

I hope you can adjust your sled to where you like it, because mine is a blast now that I can go as far as everyone else I ride with. Everyone was complaining about the stutter bumps while I just cruised over them with a big smile on my face.

Mickymo, do the taller gears give you a problem on take off or do the heavyer weights take care of it.
thats some good mpgs on that sled! maby with some wrenching I can get their to.
I bought some VIPs, they are to help with atimisation in the carbs for low end throtal responce and fuel economy. Anyone try them?
mickymo
They are shorter gears not taller. 41/25=1.64 42/24=1.75

Punchy, but not annoyingly so. I had a chance to try a Firecat F-7 EXT for a couple of miles and that was much more punchy on the trail.

Someone on this board last year suggested this 24/42 because you can still use stock chain. If you are playing in the trails and want alot of punch out of the corners, I would try shooting for a 1.85 ratio but I realy like the 1.75 ratio. I still hit 95(speedo) in a field and that is fast enough for me.

I had shortened up my limiter strap on my M-10 thinking it would cut down on the angle resistance of the rear skid frame, but that will be going back to the #4 hole.

I just want to say one more time that I realy like this sled now. Before last weekend, I was ready to trade for another brand, but because of the info I got off this BB, I will be a few years with this sled.

Getting back to the Ripsaw question, does anyone else have experiance with it on an M10 equiped edge chasis? A freind of mine has an 02 edge X 800 with M10 in need of a new track and he is interested in the Ripsaw and studded. Any feedback is appreciated.
