well, as long as we don't get too much rain, it will help the snow pack better than it does right now. trails may stay smoother for a longer period after being groomed.

I agree with that one. A little rain, with 3-6" of heavy wet snow on top won't hurt at all...

Southern Vermont:

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH
FRIDAY AFTERNOON...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WATCH FOR THE WESTERN ADIRONDACKS...LAKE GEORGE SARATOGA
REGION...MOHAWK VALLEY...GREATER CAPITAL DISTRICT...NORTHERN AND
CENTRAL CATSKILLS AND TACONICS IN NEW YORK...SOUTHERN VERMONT AND
THE BERKSHIRES IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM
THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

A HEAVY MIX OF SNOW...SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR
ACROSS MUCH OF EASTERN NEW YORK AND ADJACENT WESTERN NEW ENGLAND
STARTING THURSDAY EVENING AND CONTINUING INTO FRIDAY BEFORE
TAPERING OFF LATE FRIDAY. AT THIS POINT SNOW AND SLEET
ACCUMULATIONS OF 7 INCHES OR MORE ALONG WITH ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF
A QUARTER INCH OR MORE ARE POSSIBLE. AREAS TO THE SOUTH AND WEST ARE
EXPECTED TO HAVE MORE SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN THAN SNOW...WHILE
AREAS TO THE NORTH AND EAST ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE MORE SNOW AND
SLEET THAN FREEZING RAIN. AREAS TO THE SOUTH AND WEST WILL ALSO
LIKELY SEE A PERIOD OF RAIN FRIDAY AS TEMPERATURES WARM ABOVE
FREEZING WHILE AREAS TO THE NORTH AND EAST WILL HAVE TEMPERATURES
REMAIN BELOW FREEZING FOR MOST IF NOT ALL OF THE EVENT. THE
PRECIPITATION WILL RESULT FROM A STRENGTHENING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM
OVER THE MID MISSISSIPPI VALLEY THURSDAY MORNING WHICH IS EXPECTED
TO LIFT NORTH INTO THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES LATE THURSDAY EVENING
PUSHING A WARM FRONT TOWARD OUR REGION. A SECONDARY LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ALONG THE NEW JERSEY COAST FRIDAY
MORNING AND MOVE NORTHEAST INTO THE GULF OF MAINE FRIDAY EVENING.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW...SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL.
CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.

Yeah, I agree with that one. And I never even thought about it, until the first group left the gate. Were you in that one? I was one of the very last groups, so I was sitting up on the snowbank watching the first group go by, and I recognized the windshield on your sled - or atleast, I think it was your sled.

nope, i was in the 3rd group to leave. had a couple people who thought that was me though-- that viper must have been more flashy than mine!

that other guy had a large decal of the tuneing forks on it, mine just has a small HCS sticker.
CampD
Just finished talking with the owner of the camp next to mine in Lunenburg , says they got about 6" of heavy packable snow. ought to help out the thin spots.
Should make for a great weekend of riding. I'm outa here!

Yup, you are right. He had the big decal. Maybe next year we'll catch up for a ride. The long range guys are saying that winter starts to really wind down around 3/8 - and we have a lot of taps to get out before then. Time to get the snowshoes out, and string some pipeline...
