Ok theres like 8 diff oil posts out right now..so decided to put them all into one..what in your opinion is the best oil for the VES, and non VES, Tell about your experiences with other oil positive or negative..and lets forget the whole amsoil deal in this post
IAPro-X
IMO the oil that is best for you is one that is FIRST rated the highest (ISO EGD or EGD+), then priced right, then availibity - then all the other considerations like smell, he said/he she said yada, yada......

Topics been beat to death do a search.
Klotz_man88
Klotz IMO . what do you run?
joshz400_03
poo vesII seems fine for me and smells like bubble gum haha
Klotz_man88
thats stuff is pretty good i like the smell of it.
WIPolaris
Amsoil or Polaris for me

If i could have a good klotz dealer and it was cheaper id run klotz fo sho
Octane
VES II is OK, but its waaaay overpriced. I personally like Klotz. Good specs and it makes the exhaust smell like racegas.

Everything you read lately about choosing an oil....it all about the smell. I think you could sell these guys rat poison as oil and they'd buy it as long as it met the smell factor. stirthepot.gif

Supertech Mineral oil.. smells like a regular 2-stroke. Not that it matters, everyone's beehind me anyways. LOL.

Legend performance.com check out the oil info there. i run Legend ZXRS and have for 3 seasons and about 10,000 miles on five sleds. I would not run anything but Legend. No snake oil shit, it is real and really good stuff!
joshz400_03
anyone ever not have access to polaris oil or other brands and have to run say cat oil or ski doo oil? just wondering if im out on the trail somewhere if i absoultly need to which one would be the one to go with
The Big Dog
I second the Legend ZX-2R oil.

i run vesII, but i think im going to switch to amsoil. i have 3 gallons of poo oil that i need to burn up then im outta there. I run Amsoil interceptor in my kx and i love it. also heard it doesnt do half the job vessII does on the exhaust valves.
xltier
i been running interceptor on 2 sleds.one 600 has over 5,000 miles and still plenty of compression.800 [both ves] with 3400 miles and runs like a clock.now i cant get it and some of the guys are running phillips injex oil.friend has a 03 rev 800 with 3500 miles and has run it since it was new.

I pulled my valves on my pro-x after 450 miles using klotz and they looked like garbage. 1.5 hrs to clean. They were cleaned before the 450 miles. Really not all that impressed with Klotz, thats for sure.

Sled runs 420 mains, SLP air box........
joshz400_03
so its kinda sounding that its hit and miss with different oils cloggin up ves

Oh yeah...obviously one can't carry enough oil from home on a 1000 plus mile trip so sometimes you buy whats available. I've used a quart of the other sled manufactures and some odd ball brand oils at one time or another and took my chances. They have been just ok...some smoke more...some stink more..some are really dirty...but at least they kept the motor lubed and running. You have run what works for you...some guys ride hard all day and get away with what might be a better oil film strength wise but if used with a slower rider it'd burn dirty leaving more deposits. All i can say i've tried enough different oils...spectro syn-sno has performed best for me year in and out.
pure_adrenaline_800
Blue Marble Oil is one of the best hands down.

A lot of it has to do with the oil ratio that the sled is running. Any oil running 30:1 will have sloppy exhaust valves.

This is what i use also! I have used it for many years and have had no problems(engine related). I use it in ves and non-ves sleds. I just have to clean the valves more often.(5-600 miles). When putting it in 5 sleds every trip the price difference of $8.50 versus $14.00, $24.00, or alot more per gallon really adds up. Call me crazy if you want, but, it suits me fine.
polarissnox03
ive mainly been running the vesII, but recently at our local radar runs my pops won a rafle and ended up with a gallon of some of polaris's racing oil, have any of you guys run this through your motors?
likinit2
I use Yamalube 2 in my 800 ves polaris's. I don't have to clean my valves, they stay clean! One of my 800's has 9000 miles on it with no problems other than when I went away from using Yamalube to the dealer recomended vesII. I then had to clean my valves because they would gum up. Tried several other oils and went with Yamalube 2 for the simple fact the valves stayed clean to the point I didn't have to check them. The other reason is that it is readily available almost anywhere. Third reason is I now have over 9000 miles on it and have had no crank bearing problems (pto) and did a top end refresh at 8000 miles just to see how things looked. I still had the grafal coating on the pistons, no tell tale signs of blowby and the rings were clean and free in the lands. I put new pistons and rings in and it got a nice break in at the snowy mountains in WY............ My other 800 has 3800 miles yada yada bla bla bla..............
Too Slow
Yamalube??...When did you start using it? I thought it to be decent oil when i tried it back in 2000 in my new 600 at the time...but after a trip up north worth about 600 miles the valves were so crudded up from the stuff i never used the stuff again. Wondering if they now reformulated it to burn cleaner.

Not to mention it smells like someone is hot tarring a roof!! wink.gif I've got a few yammie guys that I ride with on occassion and that stuff does have an interesting odor.....however if it works, it works. Who give a shit what it smells like.

I use Shell Ultra Advance Synthetic and have been for a long time. Looks like 10w30 motor oil......gold color. I starting using it when my dealer was selling it in bulk instead of the first generation VES oil at the time. That stuff was crap. I haven't used anything else since. I even use it in the weed wacker.....buddy of mine uses it in his boat and chainsaw and says he never fouls a plug anymore since he started using it. Easy to get as well. All Canadian Tire stores across Canada carry it. Royal Distributing in Ontario also sells it by the case.

That yamalube does smell really bad...not as bad as klotz though. Come to think of it the valves looked like covered with hot tar and asphalt after one trip. Did use a quart or two of the shell oil during a trip...seemed similar to the castrol, synthetic oil...kind of a weird odor also.
likinit2
I started using it in 2002 in my xcr800 because the thing used so stinking much oil I wanted to use something cheap and I got a discount on a case from a freind who has a yammy dealership. I got rid of the xcr and had a bunch left over so I just started using it in my 03SKS 800. Didn't have to clean the valves or change spark plugs all season with it.... Then I ran out and bought 3 cases of VESII and 500 miles later my valves were stuck and my spark plugs were all carboned up! That is when My riding partner and I started trying different oils because he had the same problem with his SKS700 on VESII..... Don't know about any fomulation change and never saw any tar with yamalube. I have a few gallons of VESII left if anybody wants it. I thoughtI could use it up in my dirt bike and the other non valved sleds but I think it just needs to go away. Cheap! Ebay here it comes Now the stinky stuff is the Ski-doo oil.... Point being, if you run something that works realy good, dosn't mess up the valves, doesn't foul plugs and keeps your crank bearings intact for 9000+ miles stick with it!
frenchriverphazer
i ran out of oil once drain u oil tank and i used xp-s fully sythetic it ran awsome and smelled soo good u would try too keep up to me to get a nother wiff it ran like a top soo i asked my polaris dealed he said it was ok to run ski-doo oil soo thats what i run now
02xc7
Ipone, nobody mentioned anything about this oil! I have only ran this oil for 1500 & my valves were lightly charred but defenetly not stuck. Anyone else try this oil?Way cheaper than ves11.
Octane
Just a little FYI, this past winter I ran Polaris Blend and at the end of the winter (about 500 miles) the valves had no more carbon on them than they did when I ran VES II.
Just goes to show you that you do not need to fork over the big bucks for synthetic oil, even if your sled has variable exhaust.

A few years ago one of the guys we did a trip with was using it....isn't it the stuff that smells like blue berries or something tooty/fruity?...anyways i checked it out in a couple local parts mags for sleds just now...its over 40.00 a gal....a lot more than what polaris oil sells for and way more than what i pay for spectro syn-sno...which i consider the best oil anyways.
