at times from stop going forward or backward it feels like brake is on and belt smokes, you to go in opposite direction to free up

You propably have bearing failure in the drive system. First check the bearing of the track drive shaft on the left side near the speed sensor. If it is ok, open the chaincase and inspect the 3 bearings there. Failure of the chain case bearing is pretty common on this model...

would that cause a "clunking" noise a low speeds, if that bearing went bad???????
