Hello, I am heading up this weekend in a group of 7 to ride the gaspesie and i was just curious as to what Quebec has for law enforcement on the trails etc. I have heard that there are speed limits, is this true? basically just want to know if there are any real difference from trail riding in Maine?

F6, They do have provincial police that do patrol the trails and while they do not aggressively enforce a speed limit imo, if you are driving aggressive and fast they do set up radar points on occasion and will do trail checks for your quebec pass. You should find relatively uncrowded trails but remember there will be alot of groups touring the gaspe now, so drive responsibly and have a great time.

you will find the conditions that will exceed most conditions that you find in Maine, and Maine generally does a great job considering all the traffic.

We went through two police checkpoints up there last week (on the trail). They were mainly checking for permits and stolen sleds. I have no problem with that!

my advice do not stop anyhwere on the way up. We just got back and on the way up we stopped at exit 311 on 20 in Levis to eat dinner. We ate at St. Hubbert and while in the resturant the *UCKERS stole everything. 2005 chevy disel, three place enclosed trailer, four sleds and all the gear. I and familair with whole theft problem in Quebec, just did not expect it at a resturant on the way up. So my advice watch your stuff. Cops said it was the third chevy stolen in the last week or two from that area.
