Im buyin a new sled this week, and i got two in mind, a 2006 Summit x 800 144, and a 2006 M7 141
wich one would you choose? and why?
are the summits harder to boondock, because of the 16" wide track?
im drivin my self nuts tryin to decide lol

ive already been though this.. haha read my post back a couple.
its a poll too.
heers what i did. just went to a skidoo / arcitcat dealer.. sat on both.. kinda tipped them around.. being 6'3 i chose a summit. 144 but mind you they added a boss highrise and a riser bar set for me.. but its so comfy sitting down and perfect for standing now.
it is easy to boondock i think.. for mean anyways.. so tippy.. like.. its easy to manuver for me anyways
it climbs well too. im not a hardcore climber but for the hills i crusied up it was awsome.
either is good choice

with you just sayin that the summit boondocks easily i think ill probly go with that, thats what i was leanin towards anyways but my only consern was it being to hard to boondock

From the little i've road a summit compared to my M7 i'd say the M boondockers easier but I have mine pretty well setup for boondocking with 2 wheel kit and no outside wheels. Either is a good sled but right now the 2 that impress the most right now are the RMKs and the Ms.

This year I've had the chance to ride M's, REV's, and the new Dragon 700 RMK. Of the three (I own the M) I liked the Dragon the best. I thought that the REV was alright, but didn't live up to the hype. I think the Dragon is the easiest to ride, followed closely by the M. Sounds like the M's have tunnel issues when you bash on them, but a friend of mine screwed up his tunnel on his REV without even trashing on it.
Just my opinion though.

I guess ive heard that the rev is not for everybody. So if you can ride it first i would. Also with the track legnths you listed they really do not compare if width really means anything. the 16"x144 is more like a 151X15". So with that said you probably will have more flotation with the ski-doo. But im sure you will find a way better deal on a 141 M7 then a Ski-doo.

$7,000 for the summit
$5,600 for the M7

looking those prices then.... take the M7. If the prices were the same I would take the Rev

If the rev is set up for you/your preferences it is a ton of fun. The M is a little easier to bang through the trees with due to the narrower track, but you get way better flotation from the rev. The Dragon is kinda like a cross of the Rev and M, easy to lay over and bang throught the trees with similar floatation of the Rev. I personally like my Rev way better than the M's.

Not trying to start anything but the Ms float just as well as a Dragon or Rev. A Rev with equal track length does have more sq inches of track under it but equal tracks and equal flotation the M was designed from the ground up to jump out of the snow with the approach angle and suspension.

the m7 is a little easier to throw around but are pretty gutless on the bottom and mid especially..if your into playing the x will kick the 7's butt,, we owned a m7 162 and a 06 x 159..there is no comparison in power, climbing and trail manners.. go doo !!!

the M is easirt to throw around

the summit is sooo easy to thow around, i can basicaly boondock and the ski's almost stay right in the middle, i drove a Crosfire sunday (same chasy right?) well anyways i didnt like it at all, it felt real out dated after riding the sumit, you sit so far back and low, and its so big out front, idk maybe its just cause i got used to the summit
but i am soo glad i bought it

I have never really rode a M7 much, tried an M8 and have ridden an M6. I have also rode all kinds of Summits. The M's have a very slight edge when it comes to throwing it around, but the summits are better at everything else.

so i wa sthinkn about just doin some water cross with it this summer, maybe at Eping NH idk, its worth more than $800 to me but probly not to any one else

Let me know if you want to unload it. I would give you $800 for it if I could fix it. I have fixed bent tunnels before. Is the motor tight?

the motor is perfect, but looks wise its very rough, idk if i want to get rid of it, but if i decide i do ill take some pics of the tunnel damage and show u, i think its fix able i just dont feel like messin with it
i brought it back from being "totaled" once already, this time its not as bad but havin the new summit gives me no motivation to work on the rmk lol

I like my sleds ugly. It is easier to run stuff over with ugly sleds than pretty ones. I will let you watercross on it if you sell it to me. I was going to watercross my RMK anyway. I will bring them both to the pond and you can ride your old one. If you sink it you gotta dry it out though....
You can get your Summit fixed up with the money you get from selling it.

Get A switchback 144 if you are riding around here. The sled can handle deep snow but still rip down the trails.

thats so true ugly sleds are fun, i pounded the f*** out of my RMK thing climbed everything including tree's, jumped rocks, but it gets exspensive breaking stuff all the time and it sucks trying to get a broken sled out of the woods
do you realy wanna buy it? i sold the track today for some cash and another track thats in worse shape
if you are serious about wantin to buy it il probly sell it, just let me know ill go take pics of every thing wrong with it and send them to you

heres some pics
heres 3 pics of the tunnel damage, that little tube that i put on the floor and took a pic of is supose to slide in where the tunnel is all cracked, and the bolt to the a-arm goes through that
i think its fixable, i just dont feel like messin with it now that i got the new summit

heres some more pics of it
in the pic that the side skirt is hangin down low its not cause of damage its cause i took all the rivets out so i could get at the tunnel where i broke it
its got an aftermarket head (no idea what brand or what), v-force 3 reeds, slp can (had a pipe but it got smashed), dial a jet, air filters
i just put a new chain, exaust gasket, a bunch of bearings and seals (some still havnt been put in), powervalve gaskets, that havnt even had a ride on it, i noticed the tunnel after i bought all that
