Hey everyone the trails here are just about ready for dirt bikes..Most are down to dirt cause the last couple of warm days, anything west of gaylord are really trashed unless you stay off-trail and going east is a bit better, but the main trail will be really bad unless we get a major snow storm ...I have lived up here for 10+ years and have not seen it quite this bad of winter for snowmobiling...Pray to the snow gods for snow storm of the season!!! I could not belive it the other morning I was on my way to work at 5:00 in the morning, I seen the trail grommer out and he was gromming dirt I do not get it??????? Why grom when there is no snow to grom???? Everyone do the snow dance ....season is almost over before it even started!!! Maybe should start getting boat ready?

Everythime I went to gaylord there wasn't enough snow. There is just too much traffic for it to last.
I've been just going to the u.p. ever since. Not saying gaylord is BAD I usually stop and shop there on the way back home from the u.p. I just don't ride there.

I don't know about Gaylord, but here in Dublin we are getting a good dose. 6 in. of freshh at least on topof the bas we kept. 1/4-1/8 mile visibility out the window, not even that in the woods. It is NOT over yet sledfans!

Let them quit, that just means less people on the trails for us to deal with......
Never mind the state trails anyway, you have to try to figure out the back woods.

what about rays retreat country inn in Gaylord?- in the current trail report on fishweb.com he claims that one of his guests said it's his best riding he's ever done and he is staying an extra night. he states that another guest told him that the bluebear loop is a "beautiful, beautiful ride" right now. what gives?

I believe the groomer gets paid mileage if the groomers not moving there not getting any money.Dirt or SNOW it pays the same.

We only get paid IF the DNR chooses to pay us. They can deny payment for a run if they deem the snow to be insufecient. Its also really hard on the blades and pans on the machine in the dirt.We dont do it for that reason alone, obviously the dirty snow and dirty spots this year had to be delt with, but the DNR doesnt pay us for the wear and tear because of it.Gaylord Groomers have a unique situation in as much as they contract an excavation company to use thier equipment to groom,so I'm not so sure that they have as much control over the actual USE of the equipment as maybe they should, because they still have to repair.rebuild it on thier dime.

It was decent on sat when I did it,was a little rough today at 2pm when I rode it,I expected more than it was.We got about 6" today, the other issues are what is going to f&$@* it all up.I have 4 drivers bailing on me this week, and the new groomer is being taken up to the groomershow next w/e,and of course one of the remaining 5 drivers is going with it. That leaves myself and 4 others with only the 8120 to cover both trails for the remaining season. Double grooms are history this year.

You guys gotta stop sledding on the weekends. Seems it has only snowed on Sunday and Monday this season. Got lot's of snow here. My yard still has 3 feet before snow and drifts now about 6 feet all over. Gonna have to plow before I can go riding in the morning. Would of went a little while ago but figure with the 30 plus winds crosswinds would be hell , tail winds might not be bad but headwinds might be a bitch. Trail from Mancelona up 131 looks great . Mancelona to Kalkaska up 131 I'll have to make a new one. Hope the countys not assholes and plows a few of the seasonal roads gets to be a pain in the ass making the trail through over the 6 foot piles. I usually make a few alternate routes around to Mancelona . Might ride up to the ACSC clubhouse. depends how long I get side tracked off trail in a few of my play spots. As for Gaylord earlier today most were mud and snirt. Depending on how much snow they get and traffic might hold up a few days. Personally don't like riding my stuff in all the dirt that way.

Well I feel for ya,I only have to groom the blue bear and the connector on mon and tues before I can ride. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ...leseee.....thats 14 hrs in the groomer,8 hrs for sleeping,1.5 hrs for eating, showering , and perfoming other needed body functions, and 1/2 hr left to ride ! I can hardly wait !!!!
opps! almost forgot, putting gas and oil in the sled,15 min, suiting up and suiting down 15 min .

Turbo .... seriously told ya I'll drive the groomer for you ......ALL..... next season. I know the new trails if they all get done are gonna cause need for a few more drivers anyway. Daughters said hello .. they worked at the clubhouse a few weekends ago. If you'd just drive the groomer up my street and drive I promise I won't plow it til it all melts. I usually just drive over it myself in the hummer but no one else can make it over to visit unless I plow. Sometimes that's a good thing though. Glad to see you're still getting8 hours sleep LOL . Guess you're just gonna have to tell them you need an extra 1/2 hour to take a number 2 and squeak in an extra half hour riding.
