I WAS RIDING WITH 6 COUPLES SUNDAY AND IT WAS AWESOME RIDING. I THOUGHT WE WOULD TAKE A BREAK AT THE WARMING HUT SINCE IT WAS CLOSED, NO ONE SHOULD BE THERE SO WE PULLED UP AND THERE WAS ANOTHER COUPLE THERE HAVING LUNCH. WE ALL PULLED TO THE SIDE AND ALL LINED UP IN A DOUBLE ROW AWAY FROM POSSIBLE VISITORS LIKE US. WE ALL EXITED OUR SLEDS ALL 11 OF THEM EVERYONE WAS CHATTING HAVING A SNACK AND WATER BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN A GROUP OF SLEDDERS ENTERED THE WARMING HUT PARKING LOT AND THIS GIRL WHO WAS DRIVING A BRAND NEW SKIDOO TURNED HER WHEEL AND ALL OF A SUDDEN TOOK OFF LIKE A ROCKET AND HIT MY BUDDIES BRAND NEW POLARIS CAUSING IT TO ROLL ON TOP OF MY GIRLFRIENDS BRAND NEW REV EVERYONE WAS SHOCKED, WE COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT WE JUST SAW THE GIRL FLEW OFF HER SLED. WE MADE SURE SHE WAS ALL RIGHT AND THEN WE FLIPPED THE POLARIS BACK. WE NOTICED THAT IT HAD A BENT BELLY PAN AND THE HOOD WAS SCRATCHED AND THE ARM THAT CONNECTED TO THE SKI WAS BENT MY SKIDOO HAD SOME SCRATCHES NOTHING MAJOR. THE GIRLS SKIDOO THAT HIT US HAD TO HAVE AROUND 1,000. WORTH OF DAMAGE, BROKEN SKI, CRACKED HOOD, BENT HANDLE BARS, ETC. THE WORST PART OF THE ACCIDENT WAS THE GIRL CAME OVER TO SEE HOW MUCH DAMAGE SHE CAUSED SINCE IT WAS HER FIRST TIME EVER RIDING A SNOWMOBILE AND HER BOY FRIEND AKA DICK HEAD TOLD HER DON'T WORRY ABOUT THEIR SLEDS AND TOLD HER TO WALK AWAY, WELL WE WERE ALL SHOCKED WITH THAT COMMENT EVEN THE COUPLE WHO WAS HAVING THEIR LUNCH COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT THEY HEARD. MY BUDDY SAM WAS EVALUATING THE DAMAGE BECAUSE HIS SKI WAS BENT AND AFTER A GOOD 15 MINUTES, ALOT OF STARRING AT THE BOYFRIEND AND HIS GIRLFRIEND REALIZING HER FAULT. THE BOY FRIEND CAME BACK OVER LOOKED AT THE SLEDS AND SAID IT DOESN'T LOOK BAD AND MY BUDDY SAM SAID DOESN'T LOOK BAD IT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE THIS UNTIL YOUR GIRLFRIEND HIT IT. WE TOOK HIS REG # AND GOT THE BOYFRIENDS INFO. IT WAS LIKE WE WERE TO BE BLAMED FOR HER ACCIDENT. THE FUNNY THING WAS THAT WE ALL KEPT OUR MOUTHS SHUT, 5 OF US ARE IN LAWENFORCEMENT AND COULDN'T BELIEVE HOW ARROGANT SLEDDERS CAN BE, THEY DON'T REALIZE THAT THIS SPORT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AND THAT SNOWMOBILES CAN BE A DANGEROUS WEAPON AND THAT THEY DON'T REALIZE THAT PEOPLE CAN BE SERIUOSLY HURT. THANK GOD NO ONE WAS SITTING ON THOSE SLEDS WHEN THEY GOT HIT BECAUSE BY THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT SOME ONE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN SERIOUSLY HURT. AFTER THE INCIDENT WE LEFT THE WARMING HUT AND LOOKED AT THE OTHER SLED THEY HAD A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF THEM SINCE THEY HAD TO FIGURE A WAY TO RIDE THE SLED BACK TO COLEBROKE WITH A BROKEN SKI AND SERIOUS FRONT END DAMAGE. THE SLED WAS PROBALLY A RENTAL SO MAYBE THE DICK HEAD BOYFRIEND DOESN'T REALIZE HOW MUCH NEW SNOWMOBILES COST AND HOW EXPENSIVE THEY ARE TO FIX AS WELL! m2c.gif

Admit it it was all YOUR FAULT! You should have known not to park where some retard out of control rider was going to crash!
Notice the CAPITALS like the PM you told me about. Well I guess that is the reason why I got sick and went home because if I was with you I would have made sure they limped, not rode back to Colebrook or wherever they came from.

Happy no one was seriously hurt.
oldtimer
She was new, accidents happen....as law enforcement surely knows. Hope your pals sled is fixed, glad no one was hurt.

What A way to get into sleddin! I bet she wont ride for a while! I am glad all are safe!
Dark Star
funny how some people's reaction to a stressful situation is to act like a friggin tool (insert boyfriend's name here)

Glad nobody got hurt.

Must have been a bummer though. It will take a few weekends before you can look back at that one and laugh
wigga
Obviously, they have no insurance. I wonder how many sledders ride without insurance,
especially the way things are now a days you cannot ride without having it.

It is def a bummer when stuff like this happens.

The good thing is the equipment can be fixed and/or replaced. Glad nobody was sriously hurt, sounds like mostly some bruised ego's.

Some friends and I were riding in the Pittsburg area recently and helped a few people out who had gone off the trail. One person had gone off the trail three times in that day. I have some pictures to post when I get them back I will post for all to see. This person was new to riding and if I remember correctly... it was a rental.

They switched sleds after the third time off the trail! It was a 660 Turbo and they were VERY fortunate that no trees were in the way considering how far off the trail they went.

Why would you assume they have no insurance? I see that he stated in his post that they were given boyfriends information. I didn't see anything about no insurance.

Sorry to hear about your "event" in a parked mode! Bad enough we have people out there trying to hit us in motion, but when its not safe in a static position, off the trail, that's a bummer. flamethrowingsmiley.gif

Glad no one was injured, that would have made it more rediculous than it already was.

It reminds me of a client I had once several years ago that were a nice young couple who rented two super sport 550's, rode for the day, went to top off at Young's, and being late in the season it was warm and there was no snow left at the pumps. He finished topping his sled off and went to settle up, she had her helmet off sitting in front of her, cracked the bars hard to the right, driving her helmet into the throttle level, launching the sled wide open towards the store and "T-boning" an innocent Buick that happened to be parked by the entrance.

I remember the phone call from the local chief, requesting I come down to the store and to bring a trailer. She was slightly injured but it could have been a lot worse if someone would have been walking in her "bullet path".

Stuff happens out there, and you really have to keep yours eyes open! homework.gif

Should you have also got her info too? She is the one you would need to take to court. Sounds like big bucks in damaged stuff. Wait till you price all the scratched cowling and the labor. It is sad that it sounds like he wanted to avoid responsibility. Once again way to many people riding in too small a area there seems to be more and more of this crap happening. He should have taught her to ride where she could not hurt any thing. Lucky there wasn't someones little child standing there! WE ARE BEING OVER RUN BY JACKASSES!
NOYZEE
i bet they where from mass.

i never undorstood why people would get a new sled with tons of power for a beginner rider.

i got my girl a 583 in nice shap not to fast ect ect to learn on, then upgraded her to a rev. not sure why you would even think about giving a rev (no mater what size they are all pretty peppy).

sorry to hear about this, makes you think tho about the what ifs!! what if someone was sitting on that sled, or worse standing on the side that got hit. broken bones for sure.

the boyfriend, yhea he sounds like a shit bum!!!

real fasty storry, simmilar. winni 2 weeks ago. we had a track setup, cones and all. we where cruzing back from a race, slowing down all of a suddin an older 800 mxz is upside down flipping by us with 2 bodies bouncing all over the place.
we where like what the hell. they where ripping across the lake, didnt see us till last minit, choped the bars and flipped over and over about 3" from my buddies back bumper.
a girl and guy stood up. we jumped off our sleds flipped the sled over for them, then i looked at the kid, said, WTF was that?
he chuckles and said, her sled she was driving.
just shocked. no sorry no nothing.
i just dont get people.

i was racing one guy, and my sled pulled towards him, i appologized for that. lol

oh well. hope the idiot pays for the damage

This is Mark's fault! If he had the place open she wouldn't have been in such of a rush to get to the hotdogs that weren't there.. russian_roulette.gif

I got hit by a sled when i was sitting parked on my sled in alton bay. I was talkin to my bro and both our sleds were running so i didnt hear the sled coming at me(we both had cans). The sled had nobody on it, I guess the girl that was riding it hit a ridge waaaay to fast and fell off. The sled went right into me and i didnt have studs so my sled was pushed sideways for a good 40 feet. Lucky my sled didnt flip on me cause my leg was pinned against the console. Ended up calling a cab to the hospital in wolfeboro and after i had to ride my sled all the way back to barnstead. nothing 15 stitches couldnt fix tho...NOOOBS!

I think he made that statement in jest as it was an unfortunate accident. Sometimes, a little humor will go along ways. As for the job that Mark and Helga does a the warming shack, one word comes to mind "OUTSTANDINGLY BRILLIANT" Thanks for the dedication to our sport Mark and company!

I think everyone should have insurance, proof of insurance with reg.I guess the guys was lucky he hit you and not a group of guys with some extra anger, because I would say if someone hit my $9000 sled and then had a attitude some buddy is getting smacked ,,accidents do happen but attitudes shouldn't

cat eyes, I do have to correct you on your statement. The Warming Hut was actually open on Sundays years ago, but Helga and I found that there just was not enough business to make it worth while. Almost everyone leaves Pittsburg by 11 am Sundays to go home. Also, that is the usual check out time at the resorts.

Then we found out that if we wanted to be open more than one day a week we would have to get a restaurant license from the State. There is no way that the Warming Hut would ever pass muster to get the license.

That's what happens when someone buys a sled and learns as they go. It is good idea to familiarize themselves at home if enough snow. The boyfriend probably pushed her before she was ready to drive a sled. plowking

For the record, I am writing to tell my side of the story. I have been riding now for 2 seasons; We live in N.H;the sled was not rented; and we do have sled insurance. My fiancee is not a bad person as they are making him out to be. I ACCIDENTLY hit the other sled, hit the snow bank, and flipped the sled on top of me; he was more concerned about me after the accident, yes you are correct; but that is the way it should be. The people in the other group were more concerned with their sleds, than with my welfare- I heard some of them were EMT's- They didn't even come over and help me - my fiancee moved the sled from me. I am still swollen and bruised 6 days later. My fiancee gave them his card with all our info, and told them to call us if they needed any repairs. My sled was not damaged as they made it out to be. The right side mirror broke off when the sled tipped over. The only other damage was the front plastic grab bar cracked. The sleigh was not broke-we got back on our sleds, and rode 35 more miles to Canada and back. I am not making any excuses here, but in my defense, I had blown the hand warmer fuse and had been riding all day with no handwarmers. When I was coming around the snowbank my hands froze and I had trouble turning the handlebars. I will continue to snowmobile as I love the sport- accidents happen and we learn from them.

It is sure nice to see the other side of the story presented. I was bothered by the original post as I knew about the circumstances of the accident the day after it happened. The point here is that there was an ACCIDENT that happened and how someone reacted was misinterpreted and now is labeled a "dick". I don't think that there is any one out there who wouldn't put the injuries of their signifigant other in front of a materialistic object such as a sled. It really bothers me to see people be so vicious towards someone when they are only reacting to a trying situation where someone has been injured. I would like to throw this out there. Think twice before posting a derogotory remark about someone when there is an accident. People react differently in these stressfull situations and some slack should be given to those parties involved. I found it odd that the post was by the parties whose sled was not involved as heavily as some others. If it was so bad why did the party not just make the call to get the damage fixed?

I have known the Fiancee for quite a few years now, both in business and as a close friend. He is the type of person that would give you the coat off his back if you asked. To say that he is a "dickhead" and so forth is uncalled for, when all he did was react to the injury to his girlfriend. He did exactly what was required of him as to giving information to the other party involved. I just don't get why the post was written like it was. If it was as bad as it was written, why did you not contact him to get repairs addressed? Instead you came on here and posted a blown out of preportion post about an accident that was handled the way it should have been. Injuries addressed first, information exchanged, and follow up to follow. Unfortunately, there was no follow up by the parties on the receiving end of the accident.

I sure am glad to see that all parties involved will be able to still sled and have no serious injuries. The season is much too short for bad feelings to come from a simple ACCIDENT.

First of all this is not the guy that the sled got hit, it is his buddy that was with him when it happened that wrote the post. Right now this is the guy that wrote the post girlfriend and was also there when it happened. Let me tell you something if you weren't there you shouldn't get involved, the parking lot at the warming hut was flatter than a paved road (there was no snow bank) and we asked the girl that got hurt if she was OK. I over heard her Fiancee say that she hit the gas instead of the brake. Believe me I am a girl and I totally understand how it can happen and I really felt bad for the girl. I don't know who told you we were emts, there was a a fire fighter, two mass troopers, two deputy sheriffs and another officer. The group that I ride with would give their shirt off their backs to anyone. The thing that really bothered me was when the girl (which in her defense) was concerned about the sled that she hit (she said to her Fiancee is that guys sled ok) and mind you this was after we all knew that she was OK, her Financee turned to her and said "don't worry about his sled and let's go". To me that was very rude on his part. There was another couple there that we did not know and they turned to us and asked if we wanted a pen because they couldn't believe what he just said. We are the type of people that we pull over on the trailes every time was see someone on the side to make sure they are OK, we just expect people to treat us the same way when snowmobiling. The only reason the Finacee gave our friend his number was because my friend was starring at him after he didn't come over to see the sled damage and the rude comment that he made! Accidents do happen and we totally understand but come on atleast make sure everything is ok after and don't be rude to the other person when it wasn't even their fault that it happened. We all made sure we asked if the girl was ok because we were very concerned about her! P.S. the reason the guy that sled got hit may have not contacted anyone yet is because he is still on vacation.

I have a feeling that this was just a misunderstanding made in the heat of the moment.

I don't want this to turn into a he said, she said, she said etc. I was there- I was the one who was involved. The guy I hit told my fiancee that he was a part-time firefighter/Emt.Period. There was a snow bank I hit it. Period. Please when your friend comes back from vacation, have him send me a bill, and I will settle this.Period. We did end up changing the spark fuse when we stopped- he had extras- Thank God he did!! Future trips I will always carry extra spark fuses! Still in Mike's defense, he was not being a jerk- he went right over to his sled, got his wallet out and came back over with his card. Noone was staring at him to make him do this- Please!! Stop right now with all these comments that are not true, and let's all go back to sledding!
