The sled I have (98 XCR 440) has a digitron set-up in which the probes were mounted in the y-pipe 1 1/4" from the CYLINDER exhaust mounting flange. How accurate is this being mounted so close to the cylinder?

you may not see your peak temps , polaris race dept said to run probes in twin pipes 5"~6" off the piston face.

For the 700 single pipe I have heard 1.5" to 2" from the flange. I'm assuming that's from the exhaust gasket/cylinder surface.
