I am wanting to put bar risers on my 1993 XLT and was wondering if anyone has done this and if so how tall of risers can you put on these sleds without lengthing any cables? Please if you don't know the answer don't give any advice, I am sure someone has done this before to this sled that can tell me exactely how tall you can go. I would like to to a 3" but not sure if it will work or not or any reasons why I shouldn't go that tall? Also is any one type better than the next? Thanks for your help in advance!

I know on my 96 i couldnt have gone more then two inches with a throtle cable extension. The brake line can be made longer by carefully bending some of the hard lines onto a more direct route.

I machined a set of 3" bar risers for my '94 XLT and had to order a Powermadd throttle cable extension and chose to get a longer brake hose as well instead of bending the stock hard line.

So do you think you could get by with a 2" riser without any extensions?

I guess I am breaking your rules because I don't know, but I can help you figure it out. Take your bars loose, pull the bars up as far as you feel comfortable with. Then have a friend measure from the top front of the steering shaft plate to the center of the bars. That is how high of a riser you should order from me. Hope this helps.

It's not exactly that simple. You need to take in to account throttle cable and brake line length, and possibly even the wiring harness. The lengths need to be checked at full steering lock left and right as well. 3" had the throttle cable actually tight on my sled with the bars set to be level and the hood closed.
The cable extension and longer brake line were about $85 shipped from Hiperf and are high quality.

I have a 96 XLT RMK and added a 2" riser with no problems but the throttle cable. It worked but was a bit tight and if everything wasn't just right, turning caused the engine to rev up. I now have some tall Skidoo takeoffs on with about 6" ver stock but of course I had to extend stuff then. The wiring harness was fine even with this set up with some re-routing.
I love it.
