Can't decide what to try.

what are you doing with your sled? If your doing anything other than top speed runs I would suggest the slp single. they rip in the mid range....wicked bump in the mid! if your going fast on lakes and that's it, try twins from slp...they make good hp!

A single pipe will be easier to tune and keep you out there riding more than wrenching. A set of twins will give better performance than a single but can be tough to synch.

I think one of the first 3 would be ok, with SLP my top choice. Mike D.

I'm running HTG's and would recommend a nice head from RK Tec , HSP, or anyone else besides SLP. I'm just not a big fan of their heads (or policies), though the SLP would be my second choice for the twins. I wouldn't trade the twins for anything else, since I have had just about all of them on this machine. My sled will drive past anything stock. 480 mains (02 800) and forget about it.

I race and do alot of work for HTG and Rob's new pipes work. Rob's ProX 700 last year flew and worked very well in the trails. I am currently dialing in a set right now on my ProX 800 and they woke this sled up big time and again are very friendly.

Hello Kilroy, just wondering what year your Prox is, as I have a 04 prox that I have installed the HTG twin pipes on. You're right they really wake this sled up and the fit and finish seems to be top notch as well. Would like to compare setups with you.

A LITTLE OF TOPIC, BUT I ALSO HAVE A 04 PRO-X 800. I HAVE RECENTLY REPLACED BOTH SPRINGS IN CLUTCHES RED/BLUE ALMOND/BLUE. 70 GRAM EPI BELLY BUSTERS. 430 JETS AND 41 TOOTH BOTTOM GEAR. I FIND IT PULLS A LITTLE BETTER BUT STILL CANT KEEP UP TO F7. HE PULLS BIG TIOME ON ME AFTER 70 MPH. I CANT AFFORD PIPES THIS YEAR. IS THIS THE BEST I CAN GET FOR NOW. ANY IDEAS.

Hey guys, I have an 03 Pro-X with spring and weight changes, but the rest is stock. I've heard the 03 pipe has 10 less horse power than the 04 pipe because of a dent in the pipe. Thinking about getting pipes, but not sure which ones to get. How much for the HTG's and is there much setup or "dialing in" to do. Thanks

Ace, try gearing down a little more with that setup, say 24-42 especially if you're like me and have a heavy butt.
General, the 04 Prox has the dent as well. The Htg's bolt right in, are reasonably priced compared to other twins or even singles with cans and are not annoyingly loud. There setup is simple, al/bl 62's stock sec with a slight head mod. Go for it you won't be sorry.

I ran the SLP single last year on my 2002 800 XC with all the SLP goodies Made 154 HP. It kicked ass in 1000' drags, 2nd place at Mcauley Mtn Sno-Cross and worked great on 2000 miles of trails.
This year I went with D&D twins for the strong low end torque unlike normal twins.
On the Dyno it made 97 Ft-LB torque at 7400 and pulled to 117 Ft-LB at 7900.
HP was 137 HP at 7300 and pulled straight to 175 at 7900.
My father in-law has D&D twins on his 04 800 ProXR with stock engine and it made 109 Ft-LB Torque and 157 HP all under 7800 RPM - Pulls hard and great on the trails
And lastly I like Dynoports. Friend has a 800 XC with Dynoport chubby and made 156 HP. Brother in-law has 01 600 with Dynoport twins and no engine mods last year and beats up on 800's. He went for trail porting on the jugs this year and made 154 HP.
He raced a new ZR900 this weekend and walked it.

Do you have to cut the heads with the HTGs?
How big of a gain should I expect with the twins over an SLP single?
What about sound level with the twins?
1sleeper

Sound level is low and sweeeeet!
You should run a head, something like the RK Tec. Rob rechambered my head but the compression is too low, now he wants to cut it .010".
Sounds like "chasing" to me so I ordered the RK tec. I have been a guinea pig before, never really works out. The stock head is a P.O.S. anyway. After rechambering a cast head, it looks like crap too. You will have to expect some bug holes revealed from the machine work. Yuk!
As far as just cutting it, don't bother. Deto will tear you up.
