Full Version: SRV motor in a Phazer II ?

Hi, Was wondering if anybody ever did this. Got a friend with a good Phazer with a blown motor. Normally I wouldn't screw with an idea like this but it was his fathers sled and he has passed so it has sentimental value. He has access to a SRV motor for free so I thought I would ask. I'm thinkin I can handle any fabrication needed to do the transformation but I was looking for some info on the motors. What was the Hp of the Phazer & the RPM, also what was the HP and RPM of the 540 SRV motor. I've had both in the past myself but was wondering about Pipes and Carbs. He has an aftermarket single on the Phazer & I was wondering if that would work better than the stock SRV pipe. Also The Phazer has duel carbs and as I recall I was thinkin the SRV had 1. Any input would be appreciated. MMR

the srv and phazer are around the same hp, if not the same.

the phazer is dual and the srvis a single.
ive bin thinking about doing this for a long time and just never found an srv motor.

ive done alot of looking at as much as i could and i think it would practicly bolt in if you had all the mounts from the phazer, and the srv, with a bit of mix maching and a bit of welding it should be very possible. i never looked into hood clearance so that may be a problem.

ive heard in alot of places that phazer twins will really wake an srv up, and i would think the phazer aftermarket pipe would be the best idea because of it will fit under the hood the best.

and by the way, how bad did your friends phazer blow up. im and despratly looking for a motor, blown or not, as long as its not as bad as mine. i need the crank case the most.

Thanks for your help. I have now heard on another forum that the stock phazer was around 56 hp & rpm was 6750. The Stock SRV was 62 hp and ran in the 7200 to 7300 rpm range. As far as parts off his old motor, I think crank and case are good. I think it was ported & he smoked it a few times and is now very frustrated as they paid 2x to rebuild it by people who charge like people that are supposed to know what their doing if you know what I mean. So at this point I'd say we will have parts for sale but I don't want to let go of anything till I get a chance to smoke the whole situation over. It will be at least a month. Then I'd say we will sell everything in a box that were not using including ignition cyl etc. So I'd say you found a source but your just gonna have to wait a little while. Shoot me a price thats at what its worth to you. Figure in that you will to pay just the strait shipping charge on top of that what ever that will be. One Mistake, on last entry. The Stock SRV is said to be 66 to 68 HP.

Ok as I gather my Po 2xp together, I now know that I must use the SRV pipe cause the SRV is 5 mm longer stroke. Wish I could go back and edit instead of reposting. MMR

why exactly would you have to use a certain pipe because of the length of stroke, this strikes me as odd but i dunno. wouldnt it all be the same if it was comming out of the same size of hole????

Yes its the Stroke. The SRV is about 5 mm more stroke than the phazer so its a long shot to think it would work very well even though their only 40cc apart. It has to do with pipe length and timing the inversion charge from the pipe back into the motor. Its a deep and dark science and sorta hard to explain but its true. MMR
