I spoke with Major Tim Acerno from fish and game at great length tonight about vehicles in the trail. he says if anyone encounters a motor vehicle in the trail, they ask you to call fish and game dispatch and they will send an officer to the scene, if there is one in the area or available. unfortunantly they do not have 24hr dispatch, just call until you get someone. also, take the license plate and if the vehicle is gone a notice will be sent out by fish and game and DMV to the owner explaining consequences. Fish and Game can write you for up to $500 in fines plus towing and compensation to the clubs for damage to the trail. they have multiple offenses they can write you for, i don't remember the exact wording, so i am going to get into the list. fines will be greater if you are on a rail-bed, and trails bureau will be involved also. he also mentioned that if you had been drinking they will arrest you for that and it follows all the same rules as on road, you will lose your license. any more questions about this can be directed to Fish and Game directly, or PM me and i can get you all the information.
