I am looking to ride in Rupert, VT. What is the snow like? I don't need the trail conditions. My uncles family has a large chunk of land and I am going to ride on but I want to know what the snow is like.

Thanks

You will find about 20" of snow but you will find alot of drifting, strong winds after the storm

I rode off trail on our farm in Poultney this weekend. Its about 15-20 minutes north of Rupert, only in a lower elevation, and I'll put it this way....My sled was in the enclosed trailer out in our pasture. When I walked out there to get it, the snow (not a drift) was up to my hips. I'm about 6' tall. There is an easy 30" there, and probably more like 32-33". This was the biggest storm I've seen in that area since March of '93.

By the way, if you decide you want to ride some trails, I believe you can hop on the railroad bed in Rupert, and ride it all the way to Poultney, even though it passes over the NY border and back. Once you are in Poultney, there are places to eat and gas up, and some 40-60 miles loops of VERY low traffic, and VERY will groomed trails. You can also link up to Chittenden from there, and make some 100-200 miles loops. There a little more traffic in Chittenden then in Poultney, but still nothing like the NEK.

I rode from Pawlet to Rupert on sunday broke the trail up to old baldy, and then back down to the railroad tracks. I would not suggest that you go by yourself though. very easy to get sucked off the trail and stuck.
have fun

I am just riding on the land my uncles family owns. I cant go on the trails by myself anyway.
