I saw groomer tracks in Colchester from Mill Pond Rd to the 289 this afternoon. The road leading to the bridge that takes you to Essex (crossing Rt 2 by the store) wasn't punched out yet. The bank had to be 7-8 feet high. Parking lot was not plowed either fwiw.

The Malletts Bay Lakers have groomed from the Circ. to Malletts Creek and will be grooming from the Circ to CN21, and from CN24 to Cn25, today.
PLEASE RIDE WITH CAUTION!!!

The Fletcher groomer wasn't stuck...but we can't pull the drag so we are using a 6' long pallet. Actually makes a pretty good trail! 75% of our trails are open and the last 25% are being opened today (Trail 36 to Bakersfield).

Just heard that Stowe went out and just tracked the trails, couldn't pull the drag. Sounds like they might go out tomorrow to try and drag.

Amazing......too much snow to groom. Ten day forecast is "moderate warming". This is just what we need to settle the snow. One more "good dump" and we will ride well into late March. Shoot that damn woodchuck from PA!!!

Use caution coming out of Essex headed towards Colchester (7N) - Mallets Bay groomer is broke down in the middle of the trail in the woods (sort of behind the Elementary school on 128) in Essex Center. Its marked off with cones and there is a way around it. Not sure what the problem is.
Milton has been out - not opened up east on 15A yet - tried to cut back through to Westford - dead ends in a swampy area after crossing East Road (I think). Got off my sled and sank about 3 1/2 feet.
Coming back at 11:30pm it looked like Essex had headed to Fairfax - the drifts had been broken down some compared to when I rode out around 7:00.
Use your heads on the trails - don't need to pin the throttle when you take off - all that does is ruin the trail for the next rider. Grooming won't last if you don't use some common sense. We aren't riding on hard pack any more, light throttle will and easy through the corners will let everybody enjoy the efforts the groomers.
Enough of the soapbox -

Friday morning we broke the trail from Rte 2a/Circ in Essex up to the Fields just before 128, omg it was hard work. When we got to the fields the groomer had been through with out the drag. We rode all with way to Oak Hill road in Williston, on the groomer track, before we turned around. We went to do the loop through Milton but not a track on it. We were pretty tired from getting stuck and we weren't breaking through 30 inches and 6 foot road banks anymore for the day.
Headed back to 2A and saw groomer had been through, followed his track and he's broke down. Apparently it broke Thursday night too, but they got it going. He was waiting for other guy to help, said it stops like it's not getting gas. Previous post looks like they didn't get it going. :-(
Rode from Rte 2A towards Mallets bay, Turned around just before Milton. Trail getting pretty rough as the snow has no moisture to keep in on the trail. It's very loose and just pushes out from the trail. Please be careful today as there is a lot of single track in the woods, meeting other sleds is going to be tricky.
I can't believe we did 100 miles and never got out of Chittenden County, well at least my speedo says we did 100 miles.....ha

Our Groomer is out as I type with the drag. All road crossings have been opened back up and abandoned sleds have been pulled back onto the trail. By the end of this weekend our trails should be mint. Our trails are currently slippery because of the loose powder.

Slippery...yup, so are the trails in Stowe. Kinda fun for a bit, but annoying after that. They'll be nice once they get the drag on them.

The Malletts Bay groomer has been repaired and is off the trail. When you see Andy Doe and Lester Pelkey, Give them the credit they deserve. They worked long and hard to get the groomer fixed. Sitting behind the sticks, in a groomer, is quite an experience, but having this kind of help when needed is priceless. It's reassuring to know that we have such good neighbors. I don't know if anyone else was involved in the repairs, so a huge thanks to all.
