I am planning a trip to Killington snowmobiling with the wife and some friends of ours. This place is good for the night life and dining so I think it'll make for a great weekend.

I am looking for suggestions on the riding aspect of the trip.

Where's a good place to park/unload and pick up the trails?
Which club maintains the trails and do they have a good map available?

Thanks!!!

Sure...you can unload in Chittenden, which is the closest to killington that I'm aware of, and ride north. Some of the best riding in the state in my opinion. Or, you can unload in shrewsbury, and ride south. Also very good. The vast map covers the trails on either one very well.

Are there any Inns, B&B's, hotels, etc.... that are close enough to the VAST trails where you could ride your sled right out of the parking lot?

Hi Jeff,
You can stay at the Clear River Inn on Rt. 100 north in Pittsfield www.clearriverinnvt.com It is about 10 miles north of the killington access road. You can access the VAST trails right from the parking lot. They have a restaurant and bar attached. You will not be able to ride to Killington to access any of the night life, you will need to drive there.

Doc,

This is EXACTLY what we are looking for.
I wouldnt want to bring the sleds to the Killington access road anyways! We'd just like to be nearby to grab a nice dinner after riding all day. And the wives could hit a couple of shops or something to justify their 'snowmobiling' trip. LOL

HEY!

Doc is spot on!!! it is the best place by for to stay and ride out of. The bar is right downstairs of the hotel and is a GREAT time all night friday and saturday with live bands. I will be there ALL weekend thursday thru Sunday. Here and Eagle Lake Maine are just about the only two place I have ridden in the past ten years and wouldn't give up either place for the world. Two totally different animals. The acess road is only about 5-7 miles up the road and the riding should be superb. I have pics of the area e-mailed to me this morning THEY GOT BOMBED LAST NIGHT!!! Three feet plus and i have the pics to prove it. It is the storm we have been waiting for for three years now. Let me know if you need info i will give you my cell. I also can send you the amazing pics form this morning. Hope to see you there this weekend. I am actually looking at 4 acres of land right there this weekend. That is how much i love this area!!!!

They are right on with Clearwater Inn, I have been going up to that area for the past 15 years. When they have snow its really good riding. The only down side I find is no breakfast at resturant. You must get in car or its a 30 min sled ride to breakfast.
