Hi guys, my friend just bought a nice 2000 zrt600. had it out in the yard and it seems to have no power. rpm wot is 8200 max. even on the jackstank it won't rev. couple times on the stand it ran in the 7800 rpm range. I thought that these things made power arround 8800 rpm. Just seems like somthing is holding it back. do the mufflers plug on these or somthing. this thing is wicked quiet. Not sure maybe thats the way they run. We just wanted to make sure that nothing is wrong before this sled hits the trails. any professional suggestions apprieciated.

I'm not up on the newer triples does it have power valves? If not 8200-8300 is right on
my buddy just bought one and it too is super quiet so i wouldn't worry about that part
does it idle fine, maybe gunk in carbs or worn clutches/springs or bad driveline bearings does speedo work can you turn track by hand somewhat easily? could be alot of things i'll watch this posting

Take your clutches off and inspect them. Weight bushing, pins, rollers etc. Worn clutching robs power. The second thing I would do is take the carbs off and apart and soak them in carb cleaner.

ive got an 02 zrt6, D&D told me with stock exhaust anf their kit it should be 8250. Sounds like your doing about right. Wish I
could make those rpm's.

Check your clutches, my 99 turns around8700rpm. I don't think the 2000's had power valves, I think they started in 01.

With stock pipes it should be right around 8200-8250rpm's with or without powervalves. Most aftermarket pipe manufacturers recommend 9200 with their better breathing pipes. A lot of stock AC tachs read about 200rpm low from what I've read, so if you get it tuned to show between 8300-8450 on the stock tach it might run a little better.
