I have a 1997 RMK 700. My buddy brought it back to New Hampshire fro Tahoe and I kinda inherited it after I borrowed it and broke it. I got it back together after straightening the tunnel out and wanted to figure out what I could do to dial it in. I have it jetted for lower altitude and got some Stud Boy double wide shaper runers for it. Put a 4" riser and a straighter bend bar on it. I am running the paddle track and when it is hardpack I flip the scrathcers out to keep it lubed and cool.

Compression is 130# in both cylinders. I was thinkng a little head work to get it up to 150 for 93 octane fuel might be worth doing to get a litloe more brap out of it for cheap money. Is a bost bottle or V force reeds something that I should seriously consider?

It pulls 8000 rpm when I pin it so the clutching is pretty close but I am going to research how to properly align a clutch.

My area of expertise is Jet Skis so I am handy but haven't played with many sleds. Any basic stuff I should look at would be appreciated.

Here is my sled. I have gotten rid of all the purple since i took this picture.

SLP pipe!! i cant wiat till i get enough money to buy one again, my sled used to have one but then it rolled down a MTN and smashed a bunch of things the pipe being one, so i went back to stock and it feels nothn like it did, the SLP made it so much snappier the whole way through, i also got V-force 3 reeds idk how much they did cause when i bought it it already had them, and a high compresion head, and let me tell you this sled ripps, i have no idea how it went when it was stock, but theres no way it went this good. But the SLP would be my first move if i were you

I agree with the pipe. Also maybe look into getting the SLP Intake or airbox conversion kit.

Or just air filters
I put K&N's on mine and it made it much snappier, and also you get to loose all the wait of the air box and the big gommy plastic piece that basicaly lines the underneath of the hood

you might want to check the crank, those things are known for having week bottom end that likes to let go once it has a few miles. I have many friends that used to own these, and most of the ones that kept them awhile blew the bottom ends, some were lightly modded and others weren't!

Mine is getting close to 3000 miles. I will check it this summer before I go watercrossing with it.

Thanks for the information guys. I don't have a lot of experience with good sleds but this is abnbout a goosd as I have ridden. What could I ride to compare it to for good low end power? I have a buddy with an F6 and another buddy with an XC 800. Both are pretty new. It seems like my sled goes pretty decent but the throttle response isn't what my heavily modded jet skis are. I kinda like it when the motor reads my mind and revs up almost faster than I goose it. My sled isn't like that. It does lift the ski really easy though. Right off the bat and pulls good as long as I need it to.

What is a safe increas in compression from 130#'s? I was thinking 150 on pump gas with the single pipe.

I think when i last compresion tested mine it was like 155 not 100% sure on that but i do know it was in that area and i run 93 in it and it seems to be doin ok so far, when i get an SLP pipe on it again im gonna start buying alil race gas and mixxing it with the 93 tho

If you want a quicker response air filters wouldnt be a bad idea, when i put them on mine it made it twice as snappy, but make sure you get the pre-filters too! thumbsup.png its like $100 for all of it

^^^^yes the prefilters are a must on that type of intake.

Do the K&N filters totally replace the airbox? Sounds like an easy change. Maybe go up a size on the maine jet to go with it as well?

yes and maybe 2 sizes up, i went from a 500 maine to a 520N wich is the equivuilace to a 580, the way polaris does there jetting is very confusing, and if you dont know a hole lot about sleds go to your dealer and tell them that your putting filters on and want the next size up and id probly get the one above that too and try them bolth... but if you just tell them the # size you want it wont be what your exspecting, my local dealr gave me a chart of all the jet sizes

His numbers on his jets are going to be different for the older sleds. I only know this cause my 98 600 is different then friends 06 600.
If you put the K&N air filters on go into the dealer, tell them what you have done and they should send you in the right direction.

I talked to SLP and they reccomended the Power pack for the 39 Kehien Carb and the sleepr head kit. I will need a newer style head cover to go with it. It should make it BRAAP real nice for less than $400 total.
