My buddy is a slender 330 #er and is woundering what the oprions are for skid springs..

what's stock wire diameter and what the next heavier spring..

u can buy the heavier springs from a ac dealer...i have installed these on a sled before

Don't get the heavy duty springs that Cat recommends for that sled. I believe they are 1604-194 & 1604-195 They are shit. They just don't seem to last. I would get 1604-224 & 1604-225 springs. You will need to cut the long arm down to match the length of his springs.

Stock diameter is .437 and the 224/225 springs have a .460 diameter. You also have to look at the angle of the short arm. stock the angle is 83 degress and the 224/225 are also 83 degress. The lower the angle the more preload.

He can go even stiffer with 0704-886/ 0704-887 which are 0.460 diameter 77 degree.

Another option is the black magic heavy duty spring adjuster. It is a larger triangle that gives about 20% more preload. I have them on my sled. It isn't listed on their website though. You have to call them.
