Great upgrade for the early '90-'95 indys that are lowriders. I have removed the suspension front and rear from a '97 XLT SP. The front xtra ifs will drop right in to any indy other than '95-'96 XLT which a different variant of xtra front. You will get everything, even the sway bar. I will make a template for the relocation of the rear skid. All of the parts are in good condition with 4 fox shocks. $400 plus shipping or I would prefer that you pick it up. I can install if you would like to not mess with it. pics to follow on fri.

Not to be the bearer of bad news but I don't believe the front is a direct bolt on. The trailing arms will be way too long to fit onto the older 8" sleds (somewhere around 5-6"). They mount in a farther back position on the XLTs. Also, the upper shock tower on the bulkhead will need to be heavily modified to fit the much wider shock bushings on the FOX's.

As far as the rear goes it is possible to put into the older Indy's but isn't going to be easy. The steering hoop will have to be removed and either shortened, or replaced with the X-12 unit and the foot wells on each side will need to be cut out to allow access to bolt it in.

From what I've researched swapping this X-12 setup into a machine with an X-10 is rather simple, but the old 8" style is much more time consuming.

I know first hand on this swap, I attempted to swap an X-12 setup into my '89 650 chassis but ended up giving up and just purchasing an entire 95 XLT SP chassis for ease-of-change. Its not to say that these parts wouldnt work, but it'd be very time consuming. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

These are not the "long" (95-96) front arms. They are from a 97, witch is similar to the XC 10 (inboard sway bar mounts) The front is a direct drop in while the rear will take some drilling and relocating of tunnel supports. I do have the bare chassis still, for measurements or free for the taking.

I have a 94 XLT with the standard front suspension. I have an xtra 10 rear skid I'm putting in, would your front setup work with the xtra 10 or would it be better with an xtra 12? What else could I do with my 8 inch front susp?

I put an Xtra-12 into my 94 Storm and didn't have to mess with the steering loop at all. There is sufficient room in front of the loop to mount the front mounting brackets. They go between the loop and the back of the footwell. Then measure back 23.75" to the location of the rear mounting holes. You will need to mounting brackets form donor sled as the width of the rear cross shaft is nearly 1" narrower than the width of the tunnel.

PEI, the front form the '97 sp is lower in ride height than the '95 '96 and should work alot better than an 8 in. regardless or your choice for the rear. This 97 setup is just like the "XC-10" setup of '98 except it mounts where yours does.
PEIXLTMan
If your front setup would drop in for me would you consider selling it to me without the rear stuff? I just don't want a nose up attitude on the machine but would like to update a little from whats there. With the last 2 winters we've have here I cant justify a new machine to the wife. ( I missed a primo 2001 xcr 800 at an auction last week. It was clean and went for 900 cdn!!!! Everything went for 2500 or less no matter what it was. Doh!!)

Sounds like a killer deal on that sled. I would've jumped on it too. Yes I'll sell them separate. I'll just have to figure out what it may cost to get the parts to you.
PEIXLTMan
Sounds good. Let me knwo about a price and we'll figure out the shipping somehow. I do have family in Massachusetts

How tippy is an XLT running the Xtra12 over the standard front end on older sleds like the '94 XLT?
XSKIER
Not much due to the 4" wider stance.
96indy
would this work on my '96 indy sport?

thanks
Luke
XSKIER
Yep, you will have to relocate the rear suspension mounting points.
XSKIER
Rear skid sold. Front still available.
Drift Destroyer

XSKIER

I have a 97 XLT SP with the Xtra12 and mine doesn't seem tippy at all to me! Of course it's all in the set up and in what your used to as well. The newer XLT's with the Xtra12's do sit a little higher but not much. I have heard that the older XLT's do corner a little better from guy's who rode them allot. I have also heard the Xtra10 suspension will also corner better and hook up on hole shot better than the Xtra12 does.
