What ever happend to the races that use to be held up on swinging bridge lake in Sullivan County?? Just wondering Somehow I got stuck working up on the dam and was eyeing the lake up today For lunch time tommorow...

On May 5, 2005 a sinkhole was discovered in the crest of the Swinging Bridge Dam. The water level was lowered and there was only water at the dam and out in front of the marina where the races were there was no water so no ice.Plus it was so warm last year that all the lakes in sullivan county were not safe.A couple of weeks ago mirant started to raise the level of the lake about 10ft.Mirant plans to continue rasing the lake level but who knows when.Maybe next year the races will return.If you go out on the ice be very cautious.

Yah thats all the information that i have heard from the guys working up there.... But down on the dam side there is enough ice for races I didnt know that there wasnt water where they usually have the races! By the sounds of things the water level will come up faster then expected but who knows hopefully next year. Deffintly has been cold enough the last two days
