my 03 classic 600 has low compression in the pto side cylinder and im assuming i need to rebuild the top end I must also say the pistions were pretty scuffed when i looked at them in the fall and i seized it up last week but i got it moving freely again how much is it gonna cost me in parts and labour to rebuild the top end? looking for a average price range

are u sure it was seizid or a bad crankshaft bearing????

im almost positive it's the rings sticking because after we put a little oil down the cylinder holes and move the clutch back and fourth its good to go providing we pre mix the gas, for some reason it isnt taking much oil from the resvoir and is basically turning the resvoir tank into a big suckion tank of oil.......the oil tank is colapsing itself its weird.

im not quite sure but the oil pump on the motor might be bad...or not set right,....but also u could just need a rebuild...and i have heard that depending on where u go u could be spendin a cupple hundred bucks or depending on if u deside to upgrade the pistions and or bor it out tho i wouldnt bore it out u can seazie them alot quicker like tha as im sure u know already

If the oil tank is collapsing, check the vent on it. Air has to enter the tank as oil is drawn off.

ya it was the vent on the cap that was making it colapse thanks but i took the machine into my mechanic today and he just called me and said i need a complete rebuild........i dont know how much its gonna cost yet.....im scared

probably about 7-800.

complete rebuild including crank bearings = $750-$1000. Top end should be about $4-$500 (if honed).
